The Royal Hotel

The hotel has been around for a very long time and is clearly dated. Some upgrades would be nice.
Breakfast was fantastic..loved the local options..will definitely have breakfast there again, even if i dont get to stay at the hotel.

I have to give kudos to the staff they were very professional and courteous.Breakfast was lovely. The location where breakfast was served was very breezy, bright and open and is a lovely architectural feature. Nice tea station set up in the room. Contained a refrigerator which worked well. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious although we could not get the cable TV to work even after requesting assistance from the front desk who did send a technician. Beds were comfortable but the room was not clean from house lizards. The room should be aired out and given a once over before customers arrive to ensure cleanliness. While the room seemed clean the lizard droppings made me feel like the whole room was dirty even if it wasn’t. Happy to see rooms were being upgraded and there is ongoing maintenance on the property as it is a lovely location and I would like to revisit in the future.

The property is old and dated but it doesn't seem to be any updates in site the staff was friendly and helpful the safe in my room didn't work i woke up at 2 am in the morning to the sound of someone out my room having a very loud and unpleasant argument on the phone as my room was on the ground floor I looked out the window and it was the security guard this was a little startling and very unpleasant

The food and staff were nice and accommodating. The beds were comfortable and in room amenities are pretty good.
My bathroom had an odor like urine but it didn't appear dirty. Some updating is needed.
Overall a decent property and no complaints about the lovely staff.

Terrible Experience – Unsafe and Filthy

I had a horrible stay at Royal Hotel San Fernando, Trinidad with my family of four in two separate rooms. Both rooms had serious issues. The bathrooms were disgusting—the shower curtains had holes, the toilets wouldn’t flush, and the floors were dirty. When taking a shower, the water didn’t drain properly, leaving us standing in a pool of water. The biggest issue was safety—the front door in one of the rooms wouldn’t lock, and when I asked to change rooms, I was told there was no maintenance on-site. This hotel is poorly maintained, unsafe, and absolutely not worth the money. Avoid at all costs!

Numerous insects entering the room when we spoke to management about the issue they said there is nothing they can do .. the bed sheets had us itching and the iron was missing had to borrow from the adjacent room guest very disappointed by picture displayed on site

I am currently staying at the place( 12-15/02/2025. The shower then and now is a DISGRACE. I did complain multiple times to the management. Collecting a USD 170 per night and very bad shower. Especially when you go to work at 5am.
It’s utterly BAD.
I’ll definitely look for another option just for the sake of a good SHOWER. Total reckless behavior from management.

The property is close to my family which was a plus but on the other hand for the price you are paying the rooms are in need of upgrading. There is also a challenge with the red worms, i woke up in the middle of the night to see one right by my side and also in the room.

This prpperty ,is a gem in San Fernando..all the employees are so kind and friendly helpful..well spoken...I am happy I choose to spend my New Years here with my nephew.The breakfast buffet was excellent It is a rustic hotel with a charm. I love it.The rooms were also very clean with all amenities.

I prefer not to because they were really very nice workers at this establishment.
