The Sea shell Hotel is a great place for everyone. Very comfortable and friendly and clean.
All good here
Easy access. Rooms clean and well-ventilated.
Lift was not working.
Good room. Size and ventilation and cleanliness.
Lift not working.
Although a two star accommodation the Sea Shell was very clean and comfortable, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It is ideally suited for beach or town, and extremely good value for money. Overall a good stay, perfect for my work related visit.
The staff are lovely but not really helpful when it comes to taking your suitcase up for you . There’s a lot of stairs they should atleast have someone available to help with the bags . To accommodate for the lift being out of services
The rooms are in terrible condition honestly not sure how this place is still open. Their was so much little flys in my room , very mouldy smell in most of the rooms I have stayed in .
Location. Nothing else
Disgraceful - given 3rd floor room for couple aged 75 yrs, despite booking 11 mths ago and despite being promised ground or 1st floor. So at 75 yrs I had to climb 55 steps with 2 cases + and no lift, no help.
"Hotel" - neglected & shabby throughout, as if the place had been cleared/re-possessed and now new owners are refurnishing from charity shops. If it is work-in-progress then it should not be open yet and should have someone there who cares.
Staff ? - no management, no staff, no cleaning, reception rarely manned, mostly boarded up, no help, no pride. Most times when I came or went there was someone waiting in the foyer trying to make contact by phone with management.
Bedroom - 3rd floor bedroom had no space, no useable table, 1 iffy chair, no fridge, no fan, no wardrobe, noisy blinds, questionable tea/milk supplies, noisy blinds with the window open, no housekeeping, bins just fill up.
So bad we could not return to the room except to try to sleep at nighttime.
Location
Where do I start? Kerb appeal = awful. Entrance = dirty and tired.
You ask about staff, we saw one young man (teenager?) who gave us our room key and sold us our car permit. Room was very tired, needed a full lick of paint and a good bucket of soapy water. Had no option but to stay the duration because we were in Eastbourne for a family wedding on tennis weekend 🙄. Live and learn!
Great location, Good price.
Towels weren't changed. Had to ask at reception for new towels
No one entered the room for a whole week. No one at reception most of the time.
Nothing, was too scared to enter the building so didn’t even check in. It’s so horrible, don’t make the same mistake as me and think “how bad can it be” , take a look at the google reviews.
This is NOT a hotel. It’s a weird bedsit, squat. There were groups of men smoking and playing video games with the windows open as I approached the building and as a woman I didn’t feel comfortable entering, let alone checking in.
Value for money great location comfortably bed plenty of hot water
Toilet needs replacing
Location was the best thing about this property
The beds were comfortable and clean
We were there two nights in 4 rooms not one room had hot water until the morning of our departure. This was after much complaining
Each room I booked had a list of facilities but there were major differences in what was actually supplied in each room.
3 of our rooms were supposed to be the same standard but were significantly different.
As mentioned on another comment there were no towels in the room but were obtained from reception at a time when staff were there
While the room was clean the decor was in need of a complete upgrade as was the outside
Staff were hard to find at most times
Convenient position. Comfortable bed.
Position
Location
This hotel is extremely poor, old, tired, dirty, bad smell, redundant, lacks maintenance in every part, lift does not work, dirty old carpets, uncomfortable bed, stained sheets, broken chairs….where do I stop. Worst than a hostel
windows wouldn't open. unbearably hot
The location is excellent.
The property didn’t remotely match the photos on the website. It was very unclean. The portable fan was ineffective. The shower didn’t drain. The mattress on one of the beds was longer than the bed frame so it went up at the end with your feet higher than your head. The lift was broken (but the staff did help get our bags to the third floor). The check in process is tricky given you can’t even access the property without the code and reception was boarded up when you did get in. When we did finally find a staff member they were friendly.
It was very central
Parking permit for £5 per day was excellent value
The Lift was out of action
The rooms were looking tired
There was no=one on duty in the mornings.
