Lovely secluded location. Friendly attentive staff.
Very comfortable place with delicious food for breakfast and dinner. We stayed in room 36, which was very quiet and had a huge bathroom.
The service can be a bit slow particularly when the restaurant is full of guests.
Beautiful cottages set in pretty gardens, very comfortable rooms decorated to a high standard. Delicious food with great service
Beautiful room with a stunning view. Great breakfast. Very close to the beach.
Mooie locatie en sfeervolle kamer. Heerlijk ruim bed.
Privé terras voor de hoger gelegen huisjes/ kamers.
Leuke pub en goed, populair restaurant dus boek een tafel vooraf! Vriendelijk en bekwaam personeel.
Kleine badkamer.
This was our second stay at the Mason Arms as we adore its location in the historic village of Branscombe, close to the sea, full of history and in the middle of beautiful nature. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated, so cozy that we booked two nights this time, just so we can spend more time in our room and on the terrace with its stunning views. The Mason Arms restaurant and Pub has very nice food, loads of atmosphere and an excellent vegan nutroast on Sunday. When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly. All staff were more than friendly.

The staff were really friendly, the pub is delightful and the room very spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was all very good and the pub is in an amazing location with a beautiful walk to the beach, just great, we hope to return one day.
Reading light by the bed! The lighting was rather low for reading, but apart from that the bed was super comfortable and we slept really well.
Welcoming, clean, good menu & wine list. Rooms are comfortable. Very pretty gardens.
We enjoyed our Friday night stay so much, we came back for a 2nd night. However, more bar staff are needed (Saturday night) and communication between the bar and restaurant team could be improved. All in all, we enjoyed the ambience, our meals & the lovely hotel. (Shame our last minute/late night check-in meant a mix up over dinner & there wasn’t any milk in our fridge for tea in the morning, but we were grateful to be able to stay again.)
Sfeervolle herberg. De kamers zijn knus en comfortabel en bevinden zich in mooie cottages om het hoofdgebouw heen. Het restaurant was uitstekend en gezellig in dit eeuwenoude huis. Check wel even of en hoe laat er een tafel voor je geboekt is!
Nice room with a view. Comfy and quiet.
Dogs in the dining area!
A few hiccups with food and billing.
Not enough veg with dinner.
Room 4 was beautiful and so comfortable with excellent view and food good and plenty.
nothing to dislike bar that to get to Branscombe is a bit tight with the narrow roads!!
Beautiful room, great food and stunning location
Nothing!
Breakfast - the croissants were lovely.
Scrambled eggs were obviously cooked in a frying pan as it was very greasy.
Fabulous room, interesting location, great walk to the beach, excellent food
Allowing misbehaving dogs to stay in the restaurant
Lovely secluded location. Room and terrace overlooking the valley excellent. Staff variable. Our dinner order got lost so very frustrating. We were compensated for the wait but still annoying. Breakfast needs an upgrade with much more fruit. Bread from the packet! Toaster either didn’t toast or burnt….
See above.
Goed ontbijt, naar keuze.

The bar and restaurant staff were lovely.
We stayed in rooms 25 and 26. The hotel, location and staff were lovely, and although they seemed short‑staffed and a bit overrun, we were very happy with the service. Unfortunately, Room 26 was unbearably hot — well over 90° — to the point that we dropped our bags and stayed out until after the kitchen closed just to avoid being in it. The portable AC hose didn’t fit the window, there was no cross‑ventilation, and the bathroom window was nailed shut. Meanwhile, the room right next door had three functioning windows and was perfectly comfortable.
When we raised the issue, we were told “it’s an old hotel,” and no fan or practical help was offered. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but my concerns weren’t acknowledged, and at times my husband — who is American — felt a bit shamed for even mentioning it. This felt more like a management issue than a staff issue. A simple, gracious acknowledgment would have made a big difference.
In the end, what we paid for wasn’t delivered.
