rooms are excellent, bed is comfortable, food is good in the bar downstairs. not stayed for breakfast as is a little late for me.
road noise can be loud if you are a light sleeper. especially in the summer with the windows open.
Below average There was nothing good about bedroom. Shower was good. Bathroom was nearly as big as bedroom. Nothing good to say about bedroom
Room was a Single room . When you put double bed in it there was no room left. On side of bed I slept there was only enough room to shuffle sideways to get into bed. Lorry’s started about 5-30 going past our room as we were right on the road

Unfortunately our room was next to the road and was unbelievably noisy throughout the night - 'like sleeping in the middle of the road' were my husband's words, and he is usually able to sleep just about anywhere. As an instant fix, supplying earplugs is definitely necessary for this room. Sadly we didn't have ours with us and they would have made the world of difference. Longer term maybe some more soundproofing is needed? Our friends stayed in another room which they said wasn't noisy at all, so don't let this put you off booking - just request a quiet room. :)

The only problem was the room was on the road. It is a B road between Matlock and Duffield - so not the main route. However, the traffic through the town was busy. We were unaware that there was a nearby quarry and the trucks started rolling through town at 5.30am.
Everything about the place was perfect, staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was fantastic. Food was cooked with pure passion and love and it tasted fantastic. The locals in the pub were all friendly and chatty. Room was clean, comfortable and just beautiful.

The pub was beautiful, very high end decor, superb food, comfortable, inviting and very friendly staff.
The room was high end furniture, beautifully decorated, historic features everywhere you looked, 10/10 cleanliness, smelt lovely, really comfortable bed, local products supplied in bathroom and you could not hear anyone downstairs in the bars!
The food was all local fresh produce and homemade puddings. 😋 👌

Would've like more continental breakfast options like pastries while waiting for full English, but they did supply fresh break for a slice of toast.

Fine - Staff were great, Hotel was a lovely historic building and close to all amenities. I also got a free upgrade. The fridge in each room was a big plus.
Parking Information was a bit thin on the ground but that was not the fault of the hotel.
