This was our 2nd stay at the property for 1 night, as we were returning there after a 9 day cruise. Our parked car was undamaged and safe. This time we knew how to use the keypad entry! There were plenty of towels and the same room was like returning to our previous home. The TV still was unable to be used even for basics like Freeview or BBC IPlayer. Maybe previous guests have installed a lot of subscription apps? This time we phoned Stephen and he came to the room in person to investigate. It was good to meet him! He took the TV off the wall and exchanged it for another one in minutes, which had full access to what we needed.
We would like to meet the host or a staff member on arrival, so that it feels more personal. Any queries can be raised and sorted out straight away, without having to ask fellow guests (they were very helpful). First floor rooms are accessed by steep stairs, with no lift. We coped with that by leaving most of our luggage in our car.
The location was excellent. Flat terrain, close walking distance from Metro station, buses, shops and pub. There was free parking right at the door. The area was quiet and felt safe at night. Breakfast not offered, tea and coffee facilities in room. Good WiFi. We requested to leave our car while we went away from the port on a 9 day cruise. We easily reached the port via the Metro and connecting bus. Taxis also available nearby. We were able to book a second night at the end of our cruise before our long drive home to Northamptonshire.
Although the Satnav code was supplied, our vehicle only took us to the general region. The address needs more specific detail, such as 'next door to Palmer Community Hospital'. Stephen answered our phone call and gave verbal directions. It would have been great if he had welcomed us when we arrived and talked to us in person during our stay. The keypad entry key did work, though the man that helped us was actually a long-term resident. We mistook him and his partner for the hosts! They were both very helpful.
There was only 1 large towel supplied for 2 guests. The TV had adverts for many subscription services, but unable to access anything on Freeview or BBC IPlayer using our own logon. We were too tired to text/phone Stephen to ask about these things, and checked out next day without any interaction with him.
