The location is great. The best rooftop bar. Beautiful restaurant. Large room.
Everything that gives the hotel its charm could be seen as a negative: an actual key to the room that carries a $200 charge if lost, dated interiors, deteriorating infrastructure (our room had old, worn carpet and a leaky toilet). But it also has a lot of character that’s hard to find in modern hotels and the bed was quite comfortable.
I love everything about this hotel. Just perfect
Decent, charming hotel. The bedding and mattress were comfy. There was a small fridge in the room, which was benefit considering problem with the water. We didn't hire car, but daily parking is $45-$55. The cafe on the premises was very nice. Food was great, staff was very helpful. Overall, good place to stay. Tram is 2 minutes walk, quiet area.
Not good water pressure in the shower, although it could be impacted by the plumbing/sewer issue in the city. Once we asked a lady at reception desk about the cafe located on the premises and were advised to check it online. The box of Kleenex was almost empty and never replenished during our 4-day stay. Because of the water issue it was prohibited to use faucet water for tooth brushing. The hotel stuff notified around 9 am and provided smallest water bottles on the first morning only.
The Hot Tin Roof and Jack Rose was a fun experience.
I hate to give a terrible rating for the entire stay, becuase I have stayed here before. However, Gabby the front desk woman ruined our trip as soon as we arrived. After a full day of travel. She was rude, condescending, unaccommodating, and spoke over me. There was no reason for her attitude. We simply requested to check in early which I knew I would need to pay extra for. "She yelled I have no clean rooms". She was also terrible about holding our luggage. I had two interactions with her and she was disrespectful both times. I paid 1,700.00 for 4 days. I expected a level of respect and professionalism. Everyone can have a bad day but she needs to think about a job change if she can not work with the public.
Not much. The bellhop was friendly.
Dirty, worn out and old. Not the quaint old hotel we had hoped for.
This hotel was most disappointing . On Booking it represents itself well, but in real life not so much.
After checking in we went to our room which we had booked for two nights. It was run down and dirty. It is in great need of updating and some attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness.
Upon getting to the room there was a notice that a “boil water directive” was in effect. No mention of it at check in!!! The printed sheet of paper could have also been easily missed since nothing drew attention to it.
The restrictions of course are not the hotel’s fault, but it should have been mentioned when we checked in. This could have been a serious problem had we not seen the notice in the room, especially for someone with health concerns.
We cancelled night two and found a more pleasant accommodation.
The hotel is way overrated on Booking.
The atmosphere and staff were both awesome.
That we only booked one night!
Location, comfortable rooms, valet parking was easy and efficient.
No complaints.
I was very impressed with the hotel. Everyone who works there treated us so well. The manager would check in with us every time we saw him, asking if we needed anything or if we were satisfied. We also really appreciated the availability of a voucher for the gym next door.
The location was excellent, we loved staying in the Garden District. It was such a beautiful and charming area, and it made our experience even more special.
The restaurant service was excellent, and our room was very organized and beautiful. The hotel breakfast was also very good, we truly enjoyed it. We absolutely loved everything! I made sure to come here and write this because I really wanted to leave my satisfaction and gratitude.
My boyfriend and I are already looking forward to coming back, possibly as soon as April for his birthday!

The breakfast was excellent and the staff was top notch. I was impressed by the staff at the hotel, particularly David who went above and beyond. Also, the bartenders at Hot Tin and the Bayou Bar were excellent. The hotel is very convenient to both the French Quarter and Uptown. I had stayed before about 30 years ago and is has improved significantly since then. I will definitely stay there again.
Its a great historic hotel in the Garden District right along the St Charles street car line. Quick acess to Canal St and the French Quarter and our steamboat pier.
The bed was too soft. Kinda sank in it.
Habitaciones sin renovar desde hace 60 años. Super caro y cutre.
Bayou bar, silver whistle, and hot tin were a great add to the property.
Bathroom was not comfortable. Cheap shower curtain pole kept falling, shower drain didn’t drain, tile in shower was not clean appearing. No hooks on wall to hang towels after shower. Outdoor noise easy to hear through old windows. Bed and pillows not very comfortable.
