Some details need attention, few places need touch-up. For example carpet and the bathroom.

The only issue in the room was the shower head. It would not stay fixed in position and kept moving, so it had to be held by hand while taking a shower. It is a small maintenance issue, but it would make a big difference if fixed.

One thing worth mentioning is the breakfast. We decided not to book it because we found the price (around €30 per person) too expensive. There are plenty of nice cafés and bakeries within walking distance where you can have a very good breakfast for much less, so we don’t think the hotel breakfast is necessary.

The only negative experience happened during check-in. While we were speaking with the receptionist, another staff member (lady with dark hair) interrupted our conversation to speak with him in German. We understand that urgent situations can happen, but interrupting guests in the middle of check-in without even waiting a moment felt unprofessional and disrespectful. A more polite approach would have left a much better impression.

Our three-week family stay (almost €5,000) at Courtyard by Marriott Munich City East was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we encountered repeated operational failures, broken promises, reservation errors, inconsistent housekeeping, poor breakfast service, and a complete lack of accountability. Despite paying for premium accommodation and raising issues as they occurred, the hotel consistently failed to deliver the service promised and made little effort to resolve the problems.

The biggest disappointment was management’s response. Instead of acknowledging the problems or offering solutions, our concerns were dismissed, and the interaction felt defensive and confrontational. As frequent Marriott guests, we expect far higher standards of service, professionalism, and customer care. Unfortunately, this property fell well below those expectations, and I cannot recommend it based on our experience.

I am writing this review with deep disappointment and anger. We chose this hotel because we trusted the Marriott brand and its corporate standards, but what we experienced was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Before our arrival, we sent specific requests regarding our stay, but none of them were accommodated or even acknowledged by the staff.
Upon entering our rooms, 243 and 233, we were shocked by the terrible cleanliness and hygiene. The entire space was extremely dusty, the toilets were filthy, and the bathroom trash can was broken and wouldn't open. There were no tissues provided in the rooms, and to make matters worse, we were appalled to find half-used toilet paper rolls from previous guests instead of new ones. We even found bugs inside our room, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel under the Marriott umbrella.
Furthermore, we experienced a shocking lack of respect for our privacy and personal property. Someone deliberately damaged my belongings; two of the durable stickers on my suitcase, which can only be removed by intentionally scratching them with fingernails, were found scratched off and lying on the floor. Our privacy was also completely violated when staff entered our room despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign being clearly displayed on the door. It seems you have to keep the door double-locked at all times to prevent people from barging into your private space.
Most alarmingly, there was a major security breach during our stay. The room key cards are programmed so poorly that they actually unlock other guests' rooms, and some of the doors do not close and latch properly, posing a massive security risk. Despite contacting the hotel management during our stay to resolve these critical issues, we received absolutely no response or return. This was a nightmare experience that completely ruined our comfort and sense of security, and I highly advise everyone to stay away from this property.
