The rooms are stifling hot, with a very inefficient fan that did nothing to cool it down. It was so hot sleeping was difficult.

The lack of aircon means i would not book again in the summer. It was too hot and I have hardly slept in 3 nights, despite the fan. The room was too big to cope with just one fan. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired for the price, with extra cleaning required post check in

Das Frühstücksbuffet. Das Brot war schon um 8:30 Uhr ausgegangen und wurde auch nicht mehr nachgelegt. Auf Nachfrage war es aus. Das Obst (Ananas) war leider sauer und auch die Melone sah nicht mehr toll aus. Das Rührei war ein Pulver-Rührei. Da das Frühstück im Preis inbegriffen war war es okay. Aber nicht die £ 20,00 wert. Der Abräumservice beim Frühstück war auch nicht so top.

Slight niggles - you were limited to 1hr in pool and were supposed to book slot in advance - though this did not appear to be rigorously policed all the time. It was lovely weather but full restaurant menu not available outdoors.

It's a bit hard for me to write a bad review. This is my first one on Booking, however, it's also disappointing to have an amazing building and not put effort into it. Sorry guys, but we do travel a lot. I've stayed in lots of different hotels, guest-houses, B&Bs, etc. It seems that they don't care about the place but they also don't act like a normal hotel. I think most even 3-star hotels are better quality if we just take room quality/ services/ food/activities.

To name a few examples:
- food: 4 nights, always the same breakfast and really not the best quality. Again, 3-star hotels have better ones sometimes.
- room: it had moul in some places, and the room was not fixed properly. I will attach some pictures. btw, I have an allergy to moul. They always ask about food allergies; however, many people are allergic dust and mould which is the least you can do for a 4-star hotel. I understand it's an old building, but AC is also quite a standard thing to have which they didn't. Also, we did have some souvenirs from other places, and it didn't have a mini fridge which is also quite a normal thing for this tier of hotels.
- services: from the moment we were welcomed, they looked angry and bored; I felt guilty by asking "what to see around this place?" when most other hotels would do that without even asking (by the way, there are a couple of things to see or do, but they don't know them :D) in addition, we felt like that young couple (we are 33) which is less important. Every morning, we see how they jump around those a bit older ones with nice shirts and ask their opinion about everything, give them some surveys to fill out, give them special morning menus... I don't really care about these things, but it felt weird seeing how they fake that effort, judging by age and look, but when we need to ask something very simple, you feel guilty for your existence.

It was extremely hot and the tiny fan, along with windows which barely opened ,resulted in an uncomfortably hot room. No light over the mirror in the bathroom made shaving (for my husband) and applying makeup (me) very difficult. These could have been forgiven BUT, our ground floor courtyard room was adjacent to the staff carpark so we were aware of staff talking/ cars leaving until 1 a.m. Then from 2 a.m until 5a.m. there were a succession of deliveries with accompanied chatting/shouting/clattering outside our window. When we complained next day, we were told that the overnight deliveries were for a wedding taking place that day. Had we been informed about that prior to booking, we would have asked for a quieter room or found another hotel. The hotel is a wedding venue, so the overnight deliveries in that courtyard must be a regular occurrence. Personally, I believe that room shouldn't be let on the night prior to such a function, or guests should be warned. We were given a reduction in our accommodation bill, but that could not make up for the sleepless night which led to us being very tired for the long awaited family gathering the next day. Very disappointing. We shall not be returning.

Finding one's room a bit of a challenge because of the "maze like" lay-out.

EV charging facilities a little spoilt with a petrol only car parked in one of the bays even though lots of other spaces available. Left there all night. When there was only 6 bays this is big cut in available spaces. Would like the hotel to put notices on these cars or preferably if a registered guest ask them to move it.
