Cosy and quaint. Nice countryside.
The drive upto it.
The “Shepherd Hut” was not a liveable space.
It wasn’t air tight, the door had gaps all around it with a 1 inch gap across the top (which was hidden with a draft excluder, attached upside down. You couldn’t make it up!
The windows had no seals around them and again you could see clear daylight between the window sill and the frame.
The whole place was filthy with a thick layer dust everywhere, even the quilt was covered in dust which the grounds man changed quickly while pro furiously apologising.
The TV wasn’t working and was also covered in a “thick layer of dust.
There was no heating, although the grounds promptly got a heater and claimed it would “warm up”, baring in mind it was mid November and -3 degrees.
The hut had no toilet and to use one, I apparently had to go back to the main house.
I drove 9 hours from England to see my mum who was very sick and arrived to find this absolute shocker. It was the last thing I needed on that night.
I could go on but need I say more?!!
Owners like this need to be held accountable.
How could anyone in their right mind allow another human sleep there?! In their case it more about £130 than it is about public service or even humanity, it was a complete disregard for health.
Needless to say, I didn’t stay and at 10pm had to find somewhere else to get the head down.
It was disgusting and I would not recommend a stay.
Unless you don’t mind roughing it while paying for the privilege!
Amazing views. Wonderful staff. Breakfast included
Friendly and Relaxed
Well little
Tea & coffee always available in reception!
The first impression was that it seemed perfect just for 1 night for me and my dog.
Having slight mobility issues, I found it hard to move around with little floor space.
The mattress was very uncomfortable. The small shower cubicle had a high step up, and doors were tiny. Managed to use it with great difficulty!
Breakfast was advertised from 7am but had to leave at 7.20am as no one was around!
Beautiful location. Very friendly staff. Very comfortable accommodation
Beautiful place, nice location far from hustles and bustles of the city, friendly and much helpful staff. I give it a 10/10 big up to Lee and the team for the commendable job, see you soon 🫶

The family room is amazing. A lot of space for everyone to enjoy.
Lovely location, close enough to Glasgow for visiting our daughter but it was still easy to get into the hills for a walk. There was food on offer in the evening for which we were too late back to order but we were able to get really good food at the pub nearby. Friendly people, astmosphere like a backpackers hostel but with warm, comfy posh feeling of Scotish lodge. We were upgraded from the very small double I booked as soon as a larger room came free.
Free cereals, yoghurt, toast, crumpets, croisants for breakfast. But What? NO MARMITE on the breakfast bar? Shocking! Luckily, there was still marmalade, as well as honey, jam, peanut butter.
It was like walking into a warm home. Everyone was friendly and approachable. The staff were all having a roast when I arrived and they invited me to join them . Very welcoming and warm place. 😄
I can honestly say this was the best hotel experience I,ve ever had. Received a very warm welcome at check in..the Owners Robyn and Drew were amazing ... friendly kind and accommodating. The family room was amazing furnished beautifully King size bed, double bed and 2 single beds to choose from. Staff in the kitchen.. Steve (lovely man and cooks a mean chilli ! ) Francis in the kitchen, handled my mealtime request so kindly. It felt like staying with family tbh and I cant wait to return ....
nothing to report ..
Great stay
Dog and child friendly. We all had a great time.
Location.
Photos totally misleading.Room tired central heating not on so cold.More of a hostel than a hotel yet expensive to stay there.Staff party on so noisy and no other areas to sit in .Breakfast poor just a few carbs and served on paper plates. we left after one night although booked for 2 but there were no staff around to tell!
Best place on my whole trip. The scenery is simply stunning and I had the most wonderful time
