The private onsen was excellent.
The rooms were a bit old and worn, but they were clean.

Amazing food, hot outdoor onsen and a private room onsen. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The staff are all incredibly nice, the area around the hotel is beautiful and peaceful.
A little pricey. Lack of food options.
Love the onsen and service staffs at the dining room.
A little off town center but it’s ok if you drive.
My second time staying here (previously in Nov 2022), shower was good, bed was good though the pillows were a little less comfortable.
Staff can hold your luggage securely if you arrive early before check in.
There is a vending machine in the hotel for cold drinks only. Outside the hotel are more vending machines for hot drinks.
Getting a room with a large private onsen is a must and a real treat, makes it feel luxurious.
The room was also very large, multiple spaces to relax like the tatami area.
The half-board breakfast and dinner were great to try traditional Japanese food. You get given robes and slippers you can wear throughout the hotel and to dinner.
Staff were friendly and very helpful, they welcomed us and gave a tour of the room.
The location is great if you want to walk or train into Gora and the rest of Hakone from there, or catch a bus easily. I took the cable car and rope way from Gora to Lake Ashi.
Pillows didn’t feel as comfortable as I’d like, lacking neck support for side sleeping.
There is no laundromat / washing machine.
Breakfast and dinner times are pre-arranged (usually 8am and 6pm) but staff could be flexible for my plans when I had to leave earlier for a tour and made breakfast a bit earlier.
The hotel was very neat and tidy, I liked the free coffees/matcha latte machine downstairs and the private onsens and in-room onsen were great! Kaiseiki at the restaurant was an amazing experience - we were very well fed!
It was not the most convenient to get to at night, but during the day with sunlight easy to walk to train station or busstop.
Beautiful setting. The in-room onsen was blissful and we used it multiple times. The traditional dinner was exquisitely presented and included a vegetarian option for one of our family by request. This is an older hotel but very comfortable. Got an amazing shiatsu massage. Hotel staff was also gracious to shuttle us to the nearby Kowakidani station.
The carpet is showing its age and the hotel rooms could use some updating but everything is well maintained and very clean. If traditional Japanese cuisine is not your thing then it’s wasted.
Our room was sublime. It was as close to heaven as I could imagine. The dinners were some of the best food we've eaten during our entire trip to Japan. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful.

I’ve been to this location 3 times. Never disappointed. Recommend.
Easy to get to. Beautiful surrounding. Being able to order meals at booking. Getting the room style you booked. Friendly staff
Great location, excellent staff & service, comfortable / large room with hot tub, shuttle van available for local transport. The public onsen was very nice and well maintained. The view from the room to the creek below was nice, and we could hear the running water. Everything was spotless clean. We had a large bathroom. Our stay included a full Japanese Dinner and Breakfast. They have a very nice dining area. The service was good. It's hard to judge how good the food was as we are not Japanese, however, we enjoyed it a lot. It was authentically traditional Japanese which is what we wanted / expected. The Hotel & Dining easily accommodated one dietary request without any fuss.
The hotel is not new but very well maintained. Our room decor / furniture was vintage 40's US / or English (or older) and not the most comfortable & more ornate vs. functional. The bath was nice but the elevated marble floor with a clear glass wall looking into the living room was very odd. The Hotel layout is long and narrow and I think 5 floors high, and we used the stairs instead of the slow single elevator. While a nice stay, there are so many other interesting nice places to stay in Hakone for a Ryokan experience we'd probably explore another more central to the town of Gora.
