The Lister Gate Studios

Very basic with minimal/absent ameneties (no coat hangers, no beside table, no hairdryer, nowhere to hang towels) and aweful automated customer support. If you are staying for more than a night, I would recommend paying slightly more for somewhere else (if you don't mind sharing, the city's hostel would be better). Also, none of the issues (no TV access, no hot water in sink, no bowls nor spoons) that I raised upon arriving were solved. By the way, no freezer compartment and good luck trying to cook anything on the teflon-peeled pans.

Spartan furnishings, eg, one chair, no bedside table, no bedside light, no hooks to hang coats.
TV did not work.
The stairs to climb to our studio were horrible.

The bed was very uncomfortable, rolled into middle, felt every spring, no support, we both slept badly and came away with many aches and pains. It felt like it was an old used one. With an improved mattress, this place would be tip top.
Would also have benefited from a complimentary small shower gel as we had forgotten ours!

I can’t begin to explain the awful experience we had at this accommodation. The shower was run for no longer than 20 seconds to see if the hot water was working (of which it wasn’t to then find the shower was leaking, fully flooded underneath the floors. Called the emergency number multiple times to get no answer, called other number provided to get hung up on and blocked. A message eventually got back to us basically saying “sorry we will get someone out” to then never get anyone there. We physically couldn’t use the water, we had spoken to one of the residents who’s paying thousands for somewhere that have only recently got water back. Bins were in the building so all you could smell was rubbish pink/red stains all over the floor- AND I HAVEN’T EVEN GOT MY DEOSIT BACK… of which they said would be sent back immediately after check out. It was dirty, they clearly didn’t even hoover. They won’t get back to me in regard to ANYTHING, so I have taken matters further to get my money back. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS STUDIO.

There was no floor mat at the bathroom

AVOID!! I don’t usually leave reviews but I wanted to warn people about Room 4, Lister Gate, Nottingham I stayed here last week and the room was so dirty which I was shocked at considering they also take a £100 deposit, I tried contacting numerous people about this and nobody got back to me and I’m still waiting 6 days later and they also still have my deposit, I’ve provided photo evidence of this disgusting place!

1. The room had no water on the 2nd day of my stay
2. The door to get in/out of the building was stuck and I couldn't leave causing me to miss my appointment.
3. The shower is small, and the sink is genuinely comically tiny.
4. They said on the listing that there was a washing machine facility in the kitchen. There was none, and I called you guys to tell me if it was there and the representative said it was a mistake on the website. This was detrimental as I planned on using that washing machine.
5. The pillows were extremely flat and uncomfortable.

Everything especially noise while sleeping. TV not working, no communication with the property owner and safety in general inside the property was a challenge to me. You call the owner and the owner will promise this and that and never happen.

The location was confusing to find with no signage on the property to indicate you were in the correct place. I was forced to call the management due to not being provided with initial codes for entry, and they didn't pick up the phone so I had to leave several voice messages before they returned my calls.

Getting from the hallway into the property was a confusing sprawling journey up several different sets of stairs that felt like we were walking through thin corridors of a warehouse. Once inside it became apparent that the quality of the property was significantly lower than the photos - darker, a strange long and thin room shape. The property has nowhere to hang clothing on hooks or a wardrobe. The TV remote was totally unresponsive to the TV, despite having working batteries, so we could not use the TV. There is one single radiator for the whole property, located by the window, which when turned on emitted a smoky smell that (from experience) I knew was going to set off the fire alarm if left on, so therefore had to turn it off and wake up cold. We also had problems with the waterways, in which the open taps would not emit any water, then after 30 seconds began making spluttering sounds of a blockage, following which the water came out sudden aggressive bursts. The shower suffered from a similar issue, and spent a long time being freezing cold before switching to boiling hot. The bathroom is also tiny.

Additionally there was drilling works taking place both outside the building (on a nearby construction site) and internally in the building at 8am, waking us up.

There was also advice from management of a weekly fire alarm taking place on the 1st morning of our stay, however no mention of its time, so we were left on edge expecting this at any moment (it never happened).

Overall our stay was so bad that we concluded we were so uncomfortable and stressed in this place we could not continue to stay there, and departed early.

Didn't get key code until 8.30 in the evening because they wanted £100 deposit every time i went onto the link it came up error.....got in the room at 8.45 had a shower then fire alarm was going off for hour & half when I did eventually get to sleep was constantly woken by people shouting outside

They advertise a washing machine iron wardrobe. You get none of them. The kitchen The kettle didn't work (reported told would get a replacement) never happened. Kitchen has no pans to even boil water. The corridor went i checked in was filthy crushed food on the floor. Checked in at 15.05 to be told they need to get into my room as they haven't finished cleaning. So couldn't relax had to go out. The light switches are by the door so you have to fumble in the dark to get back to your room. Will never stay here again. They message you all the time about leaving a good review but when you ask for a simple thing like a kettle to have a hot drink .They really dont care they false advertise to get your money then wash their hands if you want anything. They really just dont care about customers. Just easy money for their pocket
