The property is set on a nice garden and it's nice to have your own patio with hammock and hot tub.
The room was nothing special from the inside. The booking description said we had a queen bed but in reality it was a standard small double. We couldn't open the windows because they were locked and there were no nets. They also didn't clean our room while we were out both days which isn't a big issue but considering the price we paid not worth the expense for such a standard room.
I loved the cabin we got with a hot tub and the erea around is so beautiful a lot of flowers and wildlife, staff is very nice and can provide good information.
Only thing I did not like is the bed is on the harder side, I guess it is more common in other countries compared to where I am from.
Very nice place to stay near La Fortuna, with jungle feel gardens

Lovely private cabin, staff were very attentive and it is beautifully decorated. Restaurant is nice with a good selection of food.
Hot tub was more like a bath in that you fill it from a two and the water wasn’t hot, only warm
We booked the room with whirlpool which was great. Our room faced the back of the property with complete privacy. The room was very clean, equipped with a small kitchenette incl. coffee maker and fridge. The breakfast was authentic but the price listed on booking.com was incorrect. Breakfast cost $15/person and not $8. The hotel has a bar and right down the street is a supermarket. The location in general was great. Not too far away but very quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is free and was close to our room.
We stayed during the off season and there was some construction going on during the day which was a little annoying but we understand that work has to get done to upkeep the property. Not too much of an inconvenience but worth mentioning. The laundry service was good but pretty pricey at $5/kg.
El lugar es espectacular
No tengo ninguna queja fue maravilloso
The gardens around the room were amazing and the walk to the river was enjoyable as well. The restaurant and service were top-notch. I definitely give them my highest recommendation.
My wife and I enjoyed everything.
This is our second time staying at Rancho Cerro Azul and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in La Fortuna. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is friendly and accommodating, the rooms are so comfy and super clean. I love the location...it's outside of the busy touristy downtown area and super quiet but still close enough to have easy access to everything.
That we couldn't stay longer and didn't have time to enjoy happy hour in their bar.
Lovely secluded location with lots of privacy in each bungalow. Really comfortable rooms and great service. Hummingbirds and other birds in the trees behind our room. Hammock on the balcony was great for relaxing. Lovely walk down to the river from the accommodation. Excellent food at the restaurant. The best place we stayed during our trip to Costa Rica.
Construction on the lodge next door meant it was noisy during the day. Bathroom was a bit dated.
The staff is amazing!! Willing to go above and beyond for their guests! The location is excellent. You can get to most of the major attractions near arenal in 10 minutes. Also the fact that they can arrange tours on site and provide transportation for excursions is awesome!
Bed was a little firm but that's ok. I know a lot of people prefer that and it wasn't a bad mattress by any means.
We really enjoyed this cabins, surrendered by nature and been able to walk down the crik is so amazing.
I really recommended to anyone.
My husband and I we stayed at Rancho Cerro Azul in February 2025 during our honeymoon in Costa Rica. We really liked the hotel, but on the last morning when we were packing I couldn’t find a painting that I had bought as a souvenir. I had left it on the nightstand beside my bed, in the bag from the shop, but it wasn’t there anymore. We were leaving early, before the front desk opened. I contacted the hotel later that day, and after a lot of research, they found it in the trash that had been taken from our bedroom the day before. The cleaning team thought it was garbage so it was thrown away (it didn’t look like garbage, and it was far away from the trash bin…). But we were so happy they had found it, and said it was in good condition (it was protected by a cardboard and there wasn’t much in that garbage). I asked if they could bring the painting to Cañas where we were for the night, or at the Liberia airport because we were leaving the next day. They couldn’t. I asked if they could mail it to Canada and they said yes, no problem. Two months later, after multiple messages, they still haven’t mailed it, and don’t answer most of my messages anymore. I would not recommend this hotel.
