Good location near to a station. and only a 15 minute walk to Kyoto station.
Good breakfast.

Cons:

Room a little small.
Bathroom arrangement strange,- separate shower/bath with loo in the middle of the rest of the bathroom- too tighy for comfort.

The location was good. Only one stop on the subway to kyoto station.

Cons:

We weren't told about the ongoing construction until we arrived for check in. At that point the accommodation was already paid and couldn't be changed. There was a light on the smoke alarm in the room that kept us awake through the night, every night. I stayed in 8 different accommodations in over 3 weeks in japan and this was the worst value for money, smallest room and worst sleep I had for the whole trip.

Convenient and comfortable Kyoto stay
Pros:

An ideal location for exploring Kyoto. The hotel is close to the main station and practically next to the metro, which makes it easy to reach all major attractions. The breakfast was satisfactory, and the room was comfortable and well equipped. The pricing is very reasonable. Having access to a washing machine and dryer was extremely helpful during our trip around Japan. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

We experienced some noise from the bathroom, but the hotel team resolved it immediately. After that, we had no complaints or inconveniences during our stay. As the hotel’s name suggests — Smile Hotel — we left with a smile at check-out.
