Stylish hotel in the historic center of Mardin. Very nice and attentive staff, great breakfast, free coffee and tea all day. Beautiful view from the terrace. We probably booked the smallest room, for three nights it was not a problem, but for a longer stay I would recommend choosing a larger room.

The location was close enough to the old city of Mardin, yet, quiet enough to sleep well. The view from the hotel was really beautiful. The decorations of the hotel was really beautiful and well done. Staff was kind and friendly.
During our stay, there were two occasions (around 30-45min) when the water stopped running (once in the evening and once in the morning).

Nice location, room was great, beautiful view. Amazing breakfast.
Was difficult to find
The minute you step in to this Sems Inn, you get the Mardin feeling. The music, lights, atmosphere and the view makes you feel like you are at an ancient era. It feels so authentic. The room is mix between what you first seen and modern times. Bed was very comfortable. You have the facilities you want.
The owner is from the area and knows the history. He welcomed us well, offered us tea/coffee all the time. He also helped us where to visit, where to eat, what to eat…
The time we visited Mardin was cold, but the room was hot enough. You may want to plug the radiator to bathroom an hour before taking a shower. There is no radiator in the bathroom, I think it is due to it being a historic type building.
Breakfast was traditional and plenty. They serve it when you want it. Eating while watching the nice view was amazing.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
I would recommend staying here for authentic Mardin feeling.
As most of the Mardin hotels, this hotel doesn’t even have a road that you can pull your car in, ask for help from the owner for parking. They helped us a lot on checking in and out to carry our luggages.
If you have issues walking, or going up or down the stairs, this place isn’t for you - so does 90 percent of Mardin hotels.
Location was very convenient and enjoyed the short walks to the old Mardin streets.
Room they gave us was smelling really bad and they advised it wasn't. Than they charged us extra for another room but that one shower drainage wasn't working so after 2 showers ,it was completely blocked. Even though we asked the staff ,it wasn't cleaned ,on top of it was smelling again really bad that we couldn't sleep.
Mehmet tried to help but I guess it wasn't up to him so the management should look after the place properly.
The location in Old Town Mardin is perfect, the staff is great, the owner is an incredible artist and very thoughtful, the facilities and rooms are particularly nice, the WiFi is mostly pretty good, breakfast is good, and the water is hot with great pressure.
We really enjoyed our stay here, and the management seem quite nice and sincere in resolving issues. We just simply cannot rate this hotel a 10 given the above challenges. We do believe these are really small issues, and if addressed, it would have been easy to rate them a 10.
So do we recommend Şems Inn? Yes we do — and when they tighten things, they could improve from very good to excellent
This is a challenging review to write as the Şems Inn has every potential to be a very strong 10-rated hotel, but unfortunately they come up a bit short in some management and operational issues.
They unfortunately gave the room we booked to someone else and showed us other rooms to stay in for our first night (of 6 nights); we believe that some of rooms they showed us were downgrades to what we booked. We were ultimately placed in an upgraded room the first night, knowing that we would need to move. After looking at other available rooms, we decided to pay an additional “significant” upgrade fee for a nicer room. We paid a premium for this new room, and it took some negotiating to settle on a price we felt was fair - albeit high. Unfortunately, double booking rooms did not seem to be an isolated incident; even after we moved to the new room, we noticed it continued to be advertised as available on booking.com. There was also some issue with regards to them receiving their payment from booking.com, and this issue became partly our issue even after demonstrating the room had been fully paid for.
Additionally we were initially told breakfast was served at 0800, but on the day we had a tour, no staff were there and at 0815 we headed out while being told by the staff that showed up that breakfast started at 0830. The following day we went to breakfast at 0845 and waited 30 minutes before it was served. There was only one other couple who sat for breakfast before us, so it wasn’t like it was busy. Again, the owner went out of his way to help make this right, and that was much appreciated. In truth they moved up in our rating given how attentive and caring the owner was.
Finally, our room had an additional door to the street. That would have been fine, but the hotel has a sign above this door; so, on several occasions (both very early and very late), we had people knocking loudly on this door thinking it was the hotel entrance.
Staying at Şems Inn was a delightful experience. Nestled in the heart of Mardin’s old town, the location allowed me to easily explore the rich history and unique charm of the area. The hotel’s decor is stunningly beautiful and artistic, which made each space feel cozy and inspiring.
The rooms were clean, offering a comfortable retreat after long days of sightseeing. I enjoyed the breakfast every morning – a well-prepared, delicious spread that set the tone for the day. Relaxing on the terrace with nice music playing in the background was one of my favorite moments, as it added a peaceful ambiance with breathtaking views.
The staff went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. They helped me organize a trip to Dara, a nearby historic site, and arranged a taxi for my early-morning airport transfer. Their friendliness and willingness to assist made a real difference.
I highly recommend Şems Inn for anyone visiting Mardin who wants an authentic and comfortable experience.
There was nothing I did not like.
Amazing people, amazing place, all made with taste. Very clean, with great view, service and breakfast. I'd stay here one more time without doubt.
just little suggestion to check the drain in the shower :) 1 minute clean to resolve
Beautiful patio, amazing views. Great service, and location. Very hospitable hosts. Would recommend in a heart beat.
Stunning view from the common terrace area.
The terrace is beautifully decorated.
Good breakfast.
Very comfortable bed.
Uncomfortable shower, the water didn't flow down and the floor was getting floaded.
No windows in our room, no any place to hang the towels, glasses but no water cooker.
The staff is unfriendly, except the young boy who helps with the lagguage.
The location is not reachable by car, so not advisable for people with difficulties to walk.
