Fan noise from kitchen outside window, and hotter than expected room
Nice friendly atmosphere, doesn’t look much from the outside but step inside and it’s a really warm, friendly. Food is amazing
The food was great! Nice log fire, but not enough chairs , only one settee and arm chair, otherwise only tables and chairs to sit on.
Staff were really nice too.
The bedroom was cold no heat on, when we entered, needed to drag a heater from the landing. Should have been on at arrival, cold weather! So not inviting. At 80 don't expect to be dragging heaters
Also no wardrobe at all or draws, except a very small one. Not good, as there was room. Otherwise bedroom clean and pleasant.m
The food was absolutely fabulous!! The staff were lovely and the setting for the chalet was lovely
Nothing
Staff are really nice and friendly, food was ok.
Could do with a good paint and clean through out. Bed was comfortable but 2 of the 4 pillows need replacing very lumpy, mould in shower which will wipe off between the tiles bleach on rest of it. Extractor fan outside the bedroom window makes a humming noice, so couldn’t have bedroom window open . Knobs Missing off very old looking draws.
I had a wonderful stay here. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The food was so good!
What truly made the experience special, though, was the staff, especially the lady at breakfast. They treated me and the other guests with such warmth and familiarity that I felt genuinely comfortable, almost like I was at home or staying with people I already knew.
A really lovely, welcoming place! I’d happily return.
Lovely venue and room, great location for what we needed it for can park right outside, really powerful shower, nice bathroom.
Only thing was the decking outside was slightly slippery as had been raining
Bed
Kamer was koud, de omgeving was stikdonker
The pub food is good and they serve decent beer (cask ales). The staff were friendly and efficient.
My wife and I were attending my cousin's 80th birthday in the area and initially looked at booking a Travelodge but decided to make it a special treat by spending more (quite a lot more) to stay somewhere more luxurious, but sadly that proved not to be the case at the Holford Arms; the facilities at which I would describe as being barely adequate. The location is not good, being on a main road several miles from the centre of the town (essentially in the middle of nowhere), the pub looks tired with a muddy car park surrounded by a conglomeration of shabby outbuildings. The room we were allocated (room 3) was basic to say the least, looking out on the kitchen ventilation machinery with its associated constant thrumming noise (see photo). There was no hanging space for clothes, no chair, no fridge and a dividing wall so thin we could clearly hear the conversation of the people in the next room - we did not want to disturb them by having the TV sound turned up but unfortunately the TV screen was so small we were unable to read the subtitles so we gave up on it.
To give credit where it's due the pub was fine, with friendly bar staff and good food; I explained to the gentleman behind the bar about our disappointment with the quality of the room (considering what we had paid for it), and told him we would not be staying another night as we had booked another hotel. He was most sympathetic and said that we would be given a refund for the second night but unfortunately he did not have authority to issue it so I would have to write to “someone in the office” on Monday to process the transaction. Unfortunately management responded by denying the barman's promised refund (even though they were not there) and simply offering a “free night stay” (even though we had already paid for it) at some other time.
In summary I would say this was a one star Room at a five star price.
Couldn't get in
Nothing looked filthy from outside
