Hotel Hanau'eepe is a gem. Private rooms with en suite bathrooms, yet spacious common areas - a living room, patio, and a giant kitchen with all the accoutrements. AND Sandy and Mata make the experience that much more special with their outgoing, genuine Rapa Nui charm.
Sometimes the shower took a minute to warm up, but that is a minor inconvenience.
Maybe the nicest and friendliest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Easter Island itself is a very special base and there is no better base than this to explore it. It’s a small family run hotel and they go out of their way to make your stay special. The owner also runs tours of the island which I would definitely recommend. I have nothing bad to say at all about this wonderful hotel.
It’s a room i
Calm and inviting.
The hosts, Sandy and Matter were pleasant and hospitable, the location was close to perfect, and Matter did collect me from the airport - however, that’s where the positives end! On arrival I was shown to Room 2, which was nothing like the accommodation described in the Booking.com publicity, in that, there was no tea and coffee maker in the room, there was no microwave in the room, there was no flat screen TV in the room, there was no electric kettle in the room. All those items were in the main family kitchen, which is where it seems that the family congregated, along with friends and visitors for most of the day and the evening - so there was no privacy in an early morning cup of tea or coffee. Every visit even to the water cooler felt as though I was invading their privacy! In addition, the room wasn’t serviced once in my 7 night stay, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned once, the towels weren’t changed once, the bed wasn’t made unless I made it, the bin in the bathroom wasn’t emptied once. There was no storage in the room other than two extremely small bedside tables, there was no hanging space in the room, The decoration was old and tired, with ingrained dirt around door handles and doorway architraves, the shower curtain had splashes of white paint all over it, and the bathmat was stained.
In short it was nothing like the reviews I read before booking, and I question if these had actually been verified?!
All as above. The closest this house, because that it what it was, a house with a couple of spare rooms where the owners had a chance to make some money - a cash payment with no sign of a receipt, ‘cash in hand’ I believe it’s called! The nearest this house gets to the word ‘hotel’ is the nameplate on the wall outside!
Unless you’re prepared for simply a bed to sleep in, and the minimum of washing facilities, do not be taken in by the rave reviews. As for value for money, I have nothing to compare it with, however with an excellent breakfast at at the bottom of the road costing the equivalent of £12, this unserviced room with no in room facilities at around 5 times more, in hindsight, and in my opinion didn’t come close to vfm. A shame really , because as I said at the start, Sandy and Matter were very pleasant
The place where is located is in the middle of the town, near to everything. However, the place is quiet, you can sleep all night long.
On the other hand, Sandy and Mara who are the hosts are incredibly kind, they help with everything that made my experience on the Island unforgettable.
Nothing
A delightful "home stay" hotel where the owners / residents did all they were able to make things go well, including taking me on tours (despite limited English!)
It might have been pleasant to have a wardrobe, fan in the large sized bedroom and soap and /or shampoo in the bathroom.
More of a BnB than hotel - which is great! Private room, big bathroom and warm shower plus your own patio. Walk to everything! Car rental almost next door, which I used and one of the hosts Mata (spelling?) was great to be my guide to seethe whole island and Moi, plus his english was great!
