Cons: maybe it’s only us but we felt a bit awkward as the owner lives in the property which we didn’t realise when booking i would be rather private otherwise. But saying that he’s a nice man.
Be careful when you open the tap. Open it slowly as the pressure is too high you don’t want to splash water on you.
No hot water on first night but Shay sorted it out the following day.

The name is very similar to Grand Canal Hotel and meant a decent unexpected walk with our luggage

The property was very warm when we arrived and the oil diffusers were really overpowering. The initial contact from the host was great but then we were told he had to go out and the key was left in the mailbox, and that we would need to wait for someone else to enter/leave the building to be able to get to the mailbox. Not a great start. We did not see the host at all during the stay so did not really know what we could/couldnt use, or how things worked. We were not served any breakfast or contacted about it at all. This is meant to be included so we lost out on the value of what we paid. The bathroom taps need looking at becasue they initially come on slowly but then the water go full blast.

It was not very clear that we were just staying in the hosts spare bedroom from the listing. On Booking.com I would expect to be renting a whole appartment or a room in a B&B or hotel. This was staying in a spare bedroom in the hosts full time property. Reading other reviews on the property (something I wish I did before staying) I am not alone. The host comes across very confromtational in the replies to this as well which would have made me not book had I read them.

Ontbijt werd in eerste instantie vergeten, ondanks de afspraak over de gewenste tijd de dag er voor. Kwam na ons telefoontje een half uur later. Was niet uitgebreid, zoals elders maar verder wel ok. Daarna geen contact meer gehad met de host. Wel gebeld en een bericht ingesproken met betrekking tot het ontbijt de volgende dag, hoe de sleutel achter te laten en dat het slot van de centrale deur beneden niet meer functioneerde. Daar geen respons meer op gehad. Voor deze prijs per nacht hadden we toch wat meer "care" verwacht.

The owner Shay was an excellent host but at times we felt we were intruding in his space in the common areas.
