Duncan, who was a fantastic host. Food was excellent. Location superb (our room looked out over the loch)
Duncan head of house went out his way to ensure our stay was excellent. The food was delicious and great choice of cooked breakfast options.
Dinning room could have done with some of the lights turned down. That just my preference
Excellent stay in a stunning environment. What a beautiful place by the lake. Our room even had a view of the lake. Good dinner in a cozy dining room. Breakfast was a la carte and included. Very extensive and well-prepared. The fact that the water comes from a spring in the Highlands adds to the experience. That the water pressure is thus lower than usual was a detail that was unimportant to us.
Staff were amazing. I am really bad with names but I think it was Donald or Duncan really went out of his way to make guests feel comfortable & even though he was really busy took the time to chat & listen. Really appreciated this and nice to have a more personal service than you experience in larger chain hotels. Food was great too - very relaxed dining and lounge areas. Would definitely book again.
Beautiful place, cozy room, great view, delicious food and friendly staff. Definitely recommend for a lovely stay!
The hotel sits on the bank of Loch Maree and the views are exceptional. Our room was spacious with a large bed, but it was all about the views.
Breakfast was delicious, with the best porridge that we have ever eaten and Duncans' friendliness and helpful attitude completed our stay.
The man who greeted me at reception was very personable and helpful. Location is stunning.
There was no low lighting (lamps etc) in the main living space, only the main light for the room (which didn't have a dimmer). The only sofa is two seater and the dining chairs weren't comfortable enough to sit on for an evening. The cottage smelt like a rabbit's hutch, and most of the blinds were inoperable. Sitting in the main living area with the big light on, with only uncomfortable dining chair to sit on and open blinds wasn't the cosiest of evenings. The hotel was generally clean and tidy, but the rear area (where you can walk down to the loch) was scattered with bits of litter such as old brush heads, a discarded car wash mitt etc. It wouldn't have taken much effort to clean it up, and it let down the appearance of the rear area. For £261.90 a night, this is not what I was expecting. The cottage could be a great little place, but needs more work and attention to detail - not good value for money at all. We stayed the two following nights, at a much nicer property, for only £5 more than the cost of the one night in Loch Maree Hotel Cottage.
The location was very good, bed was comfortable and breakfast was ample, staff were very welcoming
Would of liked the option of a cooked breakfast or porridge
