Hotel Ocean View Cottage

One of the best hotels in Hikkaduwa with a highly attractive price. Attentive staff that is always there to help you. 24/7 security. Beach side view from a balcony is a paradise. We recommend taking the apartment option with ocean view. The area is also amazing - not overcrowded, a long beach, lots of restaurants.

Værelserne var dog præget af sur lugt. Håndklæder og puder ret uhumske pga sur lugt fra fugt

Hotellet fremtræder slidt pool var god morgenmad er kedelig og ensformig ingen variation, internet er ubrugelig overalt, beliggenhed er god og service er i god

Hotel sur 2 étages, les troisième et quatrième en construction.
A tout prix demander une chambre sur le front de mer, car vous ne vous reposerez jamais coté route.
Mieux vaut payer 10 eur de plus par jour et choisir coté mer. Coté route klaxon toute la nuit (voitures tuk tuk et trains de marchandise) IMPOSSIBLE de dormir car les fenêtres et les portes sont très fines. Sur le coté mer, demander les chambres centrales car sur le coté, bruit des moteurs de climatisation toutes la nuit. Sinon, personnel ultra agréable, propreté très satisfaisante et surtout emplacement parfait, proche de tout.

Reception at the hotel was friendly and efficient - the minor inconvenience of some on-going building work was countered by the offer an up-graded room.

Although the rooms are pretty basic, they are very spacious and clean with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area and the beach. Location was quite good as it was walking distance to bars and restaurants, but far away enough that it was very quiet and peaceful.

We stayed at Ocean View Cottage for 8 eight nights, making day trips to surroundings (Yala, whale watching, turtle nursery, river safari, tea plantation etc). The hotel is very clean, personnel very friendly and helpful, air condition ok. Some 2 km's distance from Hikkaduwa center, where transfer with tuktuk takes some 5-7 mins (200 rbs).
We had a room at the road side of the hotel, where the traffic noise is quite strong. If you are a bad sleeper, don't take a room from this side, even if it's a bit cheaper. If you are a good sleeper, you get used to the traffic noise in one night, like we did.
The breakfast is the same every morning, you get tired to that.
The beach is lovely and there are good beach restaurants on only 5 min's walk from the hotel.

The hotel is in a good spot, just 20 m from the beach. There was continental breakfast including our room, but cos there was so many guest staying we get buffet breakfast in the morning. This was mix of sri lankan and continental. Only bad thing about the buffet was that it was the same everyday... There was lots of mosquittos in the night time so nets around your would have been nice. Otherwise the room was big and there was nice size balcony faicing the ocean. If you can, take the room faicing the ocean cos the noise from the street will wake you up if you take a room from the road side

Ocean view cottage is a very nice hotel.
The staff are welcoming and friendly.
The location of the hotel is near to the beach bars,Hikkaduwa town and of course of the beach.I spent 5 amazing days there .
However, what I suggest is
-To change the curtains in the room because it's so sunny and uncomfortable to sleep during the day.
-To improve the quality of the breakfast,
A part of that,everything was oerfect from my side I'am gonna come back after two weeks for sure.

Während unserem Aufenthalt haben wir uns im Ocean View Cottage sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Chef und sein Team waren ausgesprochen freundlich, man fühlt sich sehr willkommen. Das Frühstück ist sehr tamilisch. Terasse mit Meersicht und Meeresrauschen, Kokospalmen, breiter Strand, tolles Surfgebiet auch für Anfänger
Galle ist mit dem Bus gut erreichbar. Wir konnten tolle Ausflüge unternehmen ins Hinterland zur Lagune und Buddistischen Tempeln

Nice location, space room, clean. Cheapest room from street side quite noisy. Other side great ocean sound. Nice staff. Beach and pool make it great.

Somewhat overpriced given they in fact had a sign up saying closed for renovations when we were there. Rarely saw any staff. Room was good with sea views although walking through to the beach was difficult given the yard was dug up. Restaurant closed. Some distance from other restaurants.
