Excellent room BUT you need to warn people in advance about the nightly loud music.

Friendly staff and great food and drinks
Pros:

A great stay. Very friendly staff, great food and drinks. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious enough for our night stay. Location is perfect and actually you don't have to go anywhere because downstairs they have good food (curry!!), and drinks.

Good accommodation for the price.
Pros:

Location is central in Alton, about a 1km walk from the railway station. Staff were friendly, room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Cons:

Due to the age of the building and despite efforts to install sound installation, it can be quite noisy in the rooms, especially at weekends when events are taking place in the bar below and outside. However, if you're not planning on going to bed early (or want to enjoy the live music or events that are taking place) or have a good set of ear plugs then this shouldn't dissuade you.

Popular Market Square pub with rooms
Pros:

Warm, clean, friendly, convenient rooms above a busy, popular and occasionally noisy pub, serving Alton's population.
An easy check-in, a lengthy and thorough information sharing for guests that are separate to the standard pub crowd, sound-prooded rooms with caveats of noise expected until 1:30am on a Saturday evening, as the pub hosts a popular karaoke night - but giving this information at check-in means it wasn't unexpected.

Cons:

No breakfast option on site, but staff gave recommendations for nearby venues, depending on the time breakfast was required.
Parking is via Ringo app in public carpark, at back of the Market Square, charged hourly Mon-Saturday until 6pm and a flat rate of £1.50 on Sunday.

Lovely cozy stay in a very comfy bed
Pros:

The room was lovely and cozy, with tea and coffee facilities and a little biscuit. The room was warm despite the grim weather outside, and I could open the windows for fresh air which is appreciated.

It was a little noisy which is to be expected when you're above a pub

Friendly, family run pub in centre of Alton. Perfect for a visit o the town and surrounding areas.
Pros:

Staff extremely friendly and concerned that we had a comfortable stay.

Goed, comfortabel en schoon.
Pros:

Ik heb hier geen ontbijt gegeten. De ontvangst was erg vriendelijk. Het is een hotel met horecagelegenheid. Het was dus enigszins lawaaierig, maar niet overdreven, ik had er geen last van. Om 23.00 was het dan ook zo goed als stil.

Cons:

Alles was naar wens.

Lovely place, lovely pub, lovely everything. What a Gem in Hampshire. Highly recommend.
Pros:

Alton is a wonderful market town and the Market Hotel in the Market Square has been at the centre of the town for far more than a Century. Lot's of lovely walks along the Wey. WONDERFUL staff and owners, THE best. Can't recommend the Market Hotel enough. It's really great to find such a place, especially the pub and the food.

Cons:

Cannot fault the Market Hotel.

La chambre est propre et bien équipée

Cons:

L'hôtel se situe au-dessus d'un pub avec musique, fermant les soirs de weekends à 1h. C'est très bruyant !
