Warm, clean, friendly, convenient rooms above a busy, popular and occasionally noisy pub, serving Alton's population.
An easy check-in, a lengthy and thorough information sharing for guests that are separate to the standard pub crowd, sound-prooded rooms with caveats of noise expected until 1:30am on a Saturday evening, as the pub hosts a popular karaoke night - but giving this information at check-in means it wasn't unexpected.
No breakfast option on site, but staff gave recommendations for nearby venues, depending on the time breakfast was required.
Parking is via Ringo app in public carpark, at back of the Market Square, charged hourly Mon-Saturday until 6pm and a flat rate of £1.50 on Sunday.
The room was lovely and cozy, with tea and coffee facilities and a little biscuit. The room was warm despite the grim weather outside, and I could open the windows for fresh air which is appreciated.
It was a little noisy which is to be expected when you're above a pub

Ik heb hier geen ontbijt gegeten. De ontvangst was erg vriendelijk. Het is een hotel met horecagelegenheid. Het was dus enigszins lawaaierig, maar niet overdreven, ik had er geen last van. Om 23.00 was het dan ook zo goed als stil.
Alles was naar wens.

Alton is a wonderful market town and the Market Hotel in the Market Square has been at the centre of the town for far more than a Century. Lot's of lovely walks along the Wey. WONDERFUL staff and owners, THE best. Can't recommend the Market Hotel enough. It's really great to find such a place, especially the pub and the food.

Lovely accommodation and great food, for very good prices.
The staff were absolutely lovely — so friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help.
Bed was soooo comfortable.
Room was lovely and clean.
We asked for an iron and it was brought to us within 2 minutes.
Room did get a little stuffy after a shower but we just used the fan provided.
We got a takeaway and they provided plates, cutlery, condiments and napkins. Outstanding service!
And thank you for all the free bar stuff! Made my weekend! ❤️ Great stay.

There was no breakfast on offer as this was more a town pub.
`Main problem on arrival we were advised that the karaoke would continue right underneath us until 1 am (which it did) It was very noisy and there had been no warning of this prior to booking. I understand this is a regular thing so we should have been advised before arriving.
Room seemed nice
Noise level was unbelievably loud unable to sleep until 1:45 am. Booked for two nights left after one, which unfortunately ment I could not enjoy the wedding I was attending as needed to leave early to drive home because no other accommodation was available in the area.
Central location, above pub for food and drink, super helpful guy at check in. Good value for one night stay.
The only slight negative was it was a little noisy as it was karaoke night when i stayed but i still slept well and it was explained to me so no cause for complaint.

Car parking was a bit problematic as wee were unable to park next to the hotel on this occasion.
The hotel is lovely, with all the facilities you would expect, with all of it being very good quality, particularly for the price. I’m pleased to have booked this option and will do so again when staying in Alton
