Pros:

Check in was very efficient. Staff were lovely and friendly. I booked a double room but was given a twin. I booked a table for dinner when I booked the room, well in advance. However when we got seated the table wasn't set and I felt we were an after thought... I had a gift voucher for dinner and prosecco but were not given the prosecco even though I mentioned it when I booked...
We weren't offered dessert and I had to ask, again i felt uncomfortable having to do this.
The next morning, breakfast was lovely and the staff pleasant.
All in all it was an enjoyable stay but i still felt an inconvenience.

Pokey room and poor menu. Overpriced
Pros:

The room was small and pokey with a double bed crammed in so tightly there was hardly room to squeeze between the wall qand the bed to get in.
There was only 1 set of towels for 2 of us despite all the photos on the screen in the bar showng 2 sets per room.
Side tables were rickety, towel rail was coming away from the wall.
Socket was too far from mirror to be able to look in mirror whilst drying hair.
3 random pictures on the wall we mismatched and mishung.
This claims to be a dog frindly hotel but despite being charged extra for our dog there was nothing provided for her = dogs tolerated. Unimaginative menu and not everything was available. Good breakfast but sausages and black pudding were supermarket standard. Overpriced for what we got.

Pros:

Arrive early to get a parking spot in front of the hotel. You may get a twin bed room rather than a double and pushing them together is not a great solution. The room is small and the whole establishment is cozy.

Pros:

The pillows were very flat.
We had to keep the windows shut - when people were leaving the pub downstairs they were very noisy and standing outside.
The step into the bathroom should have a strip to highlight a step.
We were so tired after staying there.

Pros:

Very helpful, friendly and accommodating staff, food good, large portions, quite expensive (would be very good but let down by pizza) Good base for touring Hadrian's Wall, would definitely stay again. Amenities marked down due to limited parking, okay at this time of year but come peak season must be a bit of a 'mare.

Worth it if in the area.
Pros:

Pub with rooms. Great atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, bed was very soft and the room was quite warm but otherwise good.
Bathroom was bigger than needed, especially given the shape of the bath and if having a bath the difficulty of lying in it (think shower tray with extension). Water pressure seemed good though.
Food was ok, my husband had an issue with his meal but it was sorted without a fuss by the staff. Breakfast was great and swift.
Great tap beers, plenty of options for other drinks too. Clearly a local pub that’s enjoyed, inside and out.
Would definitely stay again.

Not Good
Pros:

Terrible uncomfortable mattress and pancake flat pillows. Noisy room overlooking main road.( Drunks on a Saturday night till 2am)Walls had been filled but not painted, even blood marks on wall.
Breakfast was just ok, although milk, yoghurts kept on a dresser and not fridged.Hot breakfast had been held for a long time in warmers, everything was dehydrated and over cooked/held.Not great to be honest.
This hotel won ch4,s 4 in a bed, hate to stay at the competitors in same episode.
