Handy hotel right in the middle of Stroud with a livy restaurant that is perfectly OK rather than special.
Pros:

The location was great - right in the centre of Stroud. They have a good system of pantries on the floors with bedrooms so you can get tea and milk and some essential toiletry items. The young people who serviced our rooms were very helpful with a great attitude.

Cons:

The room was adequate but couldn’t be called spacious, and it was dark, with one small window. The view was at the back of the hotel with a large, humming metal construct just to one side of the window so there was nothing pleasant to look at. The corridor we used to get to the room was unbearably hot. They did provide a fan for the room which we kept on constantly so that helped. The receptionist who greeted us was unsmiling and not particularly helpful, although other staff were much better. The walk-in showers were very good but have been designed with shower screens that are far too small so the bathroom mat/ floor gets soaked.

Staff attitude on arrival was dismissive, defensive and unfriendly. At 77 years sent to hot top floor up 2 flights with no alternative considered. Boiling hot inside corridors, on stairs, in room. Inadequate cooling, two stand up coolers with limited power. Would have been better with a small strong circular fan. Windows inoperable due to safety catches. Unable to sleep due to heat. Disinclined to call for help as staff mentioned.

Cons:

little tired, the room was horrendously hot, fans not up to the job and on a hot day they had opened windows and curtains, bathroom was also boiling hot

Very pleasant
Pros:

Excellent Location - Fantastic Staff - at reception and bar.

Cons:

Carpets in the high traffic area starting to look a bit grubby - some doors - fir door partitions and walls next to where one pushes to open them looked like they could do with a clean to remove build up of hand marks from extensive use.

Great location. Very clean. Friendly staff.

Cons:

Nice decor but very basic for the cost. No fridges in rooms… bottles of tap water provided in the ‘pantry’ were room temp. Gave the breakfast a miss as £25 is extortionate when you’re already paying £150 + a night for a very basic room. Only 6 parking spaces for the hotel but very easy to park in the station car park which is reasonable but yet another cost addition to an already expensive stay.

Shame as it is nice place but you’re paying for location rather than quality unfortunately. Would not recommend sole based on that.

It was ok.
Pros:

Lovely location and the pub area was great. The staff were really friendly.

Cons:

Our room was very dark as you couldn’t open the curtains as we were overlooked and the windows weren’t opaque. There was no fridge which was a pain as it was hot weather and we couldn’t keep our water cool. It was all very basic and not that great.
