Comfortable, spotless, beautiful. Amazing food and lovely staff.
Everything, the rooms, the service, the staff, the location. Even the included breakfast was Savoy Grill quality. Sunset on the back terrace was stunningly beautiful and the Inn is a stones throw from Catbells hike. We'll definitely be booking again even if we have planned walks elsewhere, because as a base camp for the Lake district it's in a class of its own. Well done Sally and all her colleagues, everyone of you made our short stay perfect.
Having to give back the key and leave for home.
Magnificent views, friendly staff and amazing dining experience.
Nothing, all excellent.
Stunning setting below Cat Bells. The staff were so welcoming! It was great having drinks outside beneath the fells. The full English was delicious and staff at breakfast time were just so lovely.
It was a shame that the kitchen stopped serving by the time we arrived, but we were told the dessert kitchen was still open so we got a cheese board and sticky toffee pud which were both amazing! The rooms are small but refurbished nicely - you can hear the others in neighbouring rooms quite well so it’s just luck if they’re noisy or not.
Location was beautiful…an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle. Our room was comfortable and clean with a lovely modern shower room. Breakfasts were great and the food at dinner was fabulous. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially the lady who served us at breakfast on a couple of occasions. She was lovely and recommended places to visit in the area.
We would have liked the restaurant to have been open Tuesday and Wednesday evening of our stay even if it was just for a light meal. The bar is also closed at 8pm on these days which was not helpful. It would’ve been nice to have had a drink at the bar after our day out. We arrived back just after 8pm on these days and everywhere was locked up with no staff around.
We missed the addition of bathrobes and bottled water in our room.
I prefer to have toast served at the table at breakfast rather than having to use the toaster ourselves.
Breakfast was excellent, a good selection. Fabulous evening meal in the restaurant.
Location was quiet and scenic.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The room was beautiful and clean.
No food served on some days in the week, not advertised.
Beautiful location!
Not normally a problem, I’m sure, but the room was too hot. There was a heatwave but the radiators were still on and the curtains wide open for a huge window facing the sun.
Great breakfast, and superb location. Enjoyed the bar facilities.
We booked a double bed, there were no twin rooms available. The double bed was very small.
we loved the location once we found it, and especially liked the staff and breakfasts and dinners .
Location. Fantastic bed! Great breakfast.
Room was spacious and comfortable. The bedxwas really comfortable and linen and towels of good quality. Beautiful location. Breakfast was excellent.
The bathroom in our room was a bit small. The heating and hot water were off in the late afternoon when we returned from a walk and wanted a shower. It was unseasonally cold and the hotel had not taken this into account.
In the middle of nowhere
Was cold at night - rooms needs blankets
Excellent food, accommodation and location whilst doing the Cumbria way, would recommend to all
Fabulous staff and amazing views of the hills from the patio outside the bar.
Breakfast was excellent too.
Definitely going to visit again
A bit of traffic / delivery van noise about 6.30
Perfect location, comfy room, great food and friendly staff.
Nothing to dislike about the hotel but be aware, this is a dog friendly hotel and we did encounter barking dogs in rooms and the restaurant. Which is a tad annoying.
