Die Anlage ist sehr schick und strahlt einen dezenten Luxus aus, der niemals überkandidelt oder arrogant wirkt.
Das Personal ist professionell, dabei sehr natürlich und freundlich. Wir haben uns jederzeit willkommen gefühlt. Das Zimmer war eine Doppelhaushälfte mit totschicker Einrichtung aus alten, frisch renovierten Möbeln und einem modernen Bad. Die umlaufende Terrasse ist traumhaft.
Die Anlage ist sehr groß und besteht aus einzelnen Häusern, die mit großem Abstand darauf verteilt sind. Es wurde genügend alter Baumbestand erhalten, außerdem viele blühende Sträucher gesetzt, so dass jede Menge Vögel und Wildtiere zu beobachten sind. Wir haben nirgendwo in Costa Rica so viele Tukane gesehen wie dort.
Das Restaurant hat uns gut gefallen, man braucht keine Reservierung, sondern kann kann spontan entscheiden, dort essen zu gehen. Die Preise sind sehr angemessen. Der Infinity-Pool ist wunderschön.
Als begeisterte Reiterin habe ich einen Ausritt gemacht, der ganz toll war. Ein fließend englisch sprachiger Cowboy hat uns begleitet und konnte nebenher noch wirklich viel Interessantes zu Fauna und Flora und zu Costa Rica erzählen. Die Pferde sind gut gefüttert, ausgebildet und gepflegt, dabei artig und gehfreudig.
Wir sind ganz begeistert von dieser schönen Oase, es war die tollste Unterkunft auf unserem Roadtrip durch Costa Rica.
Dass wir nicht länger bleiben konnten.

La notion de service est bien acquise. Le staff est très attentif et les chambres sont superbes. Je recommande.
We loved the space and the grounds. The individual bungalows were stunning, a good size with nice veranders and set in gorgeous grounds. We went for lots of walks / runs. The pool facility was lovely and the gym was well equipped. The food in the restaurant was really good quality and the chef was looking to improve the menu. There were loads of bird to spot around as well.
There were areas of the estate under construction and although we heard very little in the way of noise i do worry that once finished (2027) it will become to big for the facilities they have. For now the 10 - 12 sunbeds around the pool seemed fine. Perhaps they have plans for another pool area??

wifi in the room out in the balcony was a bit iffy, but otherwise everything was just perfection.
Echt een fantastische plek. Prachtige kamer met een super badkamer. Alles extreem schoon en netjes (het is nog maar 1 jaar oud). De bedden zijn echt de beste bedden in een hotel ever. Service is uitstekend en het eten is goed. Ontbijt is prima en het heeft een heerlijk zwembad.
Als ik echt iets moet aanmerken, dan kan de waterdruk in de douche wel wat beter.

Exceptional property which is only recently opened. I'm sure it will only improve over time. Super friendly staff who try to do everything to accommodate your wishes. The colibri's in the garden where fantastic. The overall architecture is stunning and the nature walk was really nice. The vicinity of La Selva Biological Station offers an exceptional nature experience.
The food wasn't as exceptional as the place itself. It was moderately at best; while good and very good food isn't that hard to find in general in Costa Rica. If El Lugar adds a good chef, it can reach the standard it sets for itself. We also didn't like the fact that it's a gated area where you can only move around with golf cart service. It gave us a bit of a locked up feeling, while it might provide other guests a feeling of security and quiet, it didn't for us. So that might be matter of opinion. The phone number on the website of ellugar.com is wrong. It might make more sense to keep the gate open during daylight and allow customers to drive their cars around at low speed during certain hours, or give the customers access to golf carts or other means of transport during the stay.
Everything is made to make you feel comfortable, the food, the bed, the linings, the room and people is so nice.
