Top location
Pros:

Two nights at the Crown on Darby. Location was perfect for exploring Newcastle, and Cooks Hill is the best suburb to hang out it.

The apartment was quite well worn but it had everything we needed. The spa bath was good.

Cons:

Mattress very soft. Not the best.

I’m a light sleeper so the unnecessary window without a blind between the bathroom and main room meant the room was bright very early.

Collecting keys outside check in hours (= after 3pm on Sundays) worked fine for us but another couple were having problems and there were no staff around to help.

Cost of parking ($50 for 2 days) seemed a bit hefty but I guess that’s what you have to pay for a city location.

Happy guests
Pros:

Very clean comfortable accommodation. We wanted for nothing with all toiletries and kitchen appliances etc. Excellent.

Pros:

Cleanliness, how spacious everything was, balconies

Cons:

the lights were the harsh blue kind of light rather than the muted tones I prefer at hotels. I had to turn the outdoor light next to the bedroom or the TV, or just one lamp. The person responding to my second email and whoever texts could have a friendlier tone, as it's it contrast to the first person who emailed and the people who spoke on the phone.

I had some security concerns about who can access the key in the safety box after hours if you arrive after 5pm.
