Lion Gate Hotel Sigiriya

Die Unterkunft ist Klasse. Ich kann sie nur weiterempfehlen. Das Personal ist super freundlich und total hilfsbereit. Egal, ob ein Ausflug gesucht wird, eine Weiterfahrt in einen anderen Ort oder nur eine einfach Empfehlung bekommt man direkt angeboten, aber auf eine nette Weise, sodass man keinen Zwang spürt, das Angebot annehmen zu müssen. Auch die Küche ist Klasse. Jeden Morgen gibt es ein tolles Frühstück und der Küchenchef ist wirklich ein Schatz. Ich kann auch jeden ans Herz legen dort abends auch etwas essen zu gehen. Der Chef macht alles ganz frisch fertig und mit viel Liebe, sodass vorher besprochen werden kann, ab wann man essen möchte und der Chef nimmt sich auch die Mühe, alles zu erzählen, was er genau zubereitet hat.

We just loved the resort feel with the swimming pool and adjoining open spaces. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful. Bernard the manager was very helpful in guiding us with transport and sightseeing.

The room was very large and had a desk, table and chairs. The pool was big enough to do short lengths in. The room was very clean and felt almost brand new. The breakfast was varied each morning. We ate there all 3 nights and the 7 curries was cooked from scratch and delicious. The chef was a lovely person and we also really liked the manager.

Charmant hôtel, situé très près des centres d’intérêts de Sigiriya (Pidurangaka et Lion rock), j’ai passé deux superbes nuits dans cet établissement. Recommandé par une amie, je ne regrette pas d’y avoir séjourné. Le petit déjeuner variait d’un jour à l’autre (sri lankais puis occidental). Le restaurant offre des plats divers et variés (j’ai goûté des plats sri lankais délicieux!). La piscine, ma chambre étaient très propres. Le personnel, très souriant et aimable. La communication se fait par WhatsApp. Grâce au gérant, j’ai pu me faire masser dans un institut à une dizaine de minutes de l’hôtel et le transport a été arrangé par l’institut lui-même

Our favourite hotel we have stayed in in Sri Lanka - maybe even other countries. Welcome drink and complimentary drinks at the pool. Our hotel room was brand new, we had the family room which was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was a great size and spotless. The pool was great and very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious. But the best thing of all was the service. Bernard had the most amazing hospitality, he was so friendly and professional, nothing was too much. He arranged tuk tuks, gave us sight seeing tips, restaurant recommendations and he found a store in a nearby town that sold suitcases and arranged a trip for us to buy them and made sure we got the best price by ringing the store manager. (The airline broke our cases). He is truely one of a kind and a real asset to the hotel. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Lion Gate Hotel. I want to start foremost by saying that the customer service and friendliness of Bernard the manager was first class. There was some issue with our booking but he made sure we were accommodated, taking our needs into consideration and always kept in checking in on us. If everyone was like Bernard the world would be a better place! The staff here have a mix of languages and can cater to Tamil, Sinhala and English. We also had the pleasure of eating at the restaurant where we had both dinner and breakfast. I would recommend the chicken Kothu, perfectly balanced spice and very tasty. The chef was extremely nice aswell, he could cater to your specific needs with any type of food and always had a smile on his face. If you have some time to relax definitely check out Ayurveda Isiwara Paura Spa which is only a 6min drive away, probably one of the best massages I’ve had. We stayed in the newly built family rooms and they were absolutely spotless and had every facility. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel if you are in Sigiriya.

Wir hatten ein sehr großes Zimmer was auch relativ neu erscheinte. es war alles im Zimmer was man benötigte. Der Manager hat sich sehr gut um uns gekümmert und auch günstigere Preise mit den Safari Anbietern und Taxifahrern ausgemacht.

Uns begegnete maximale Gastfreundlichkeit. Ebenso ein reichhaltiges und sehr gutes Frühstück. Eine absolut empfehlenswerte Unterkunft.

Für uns was die Lage super , da unsere Ausflugsziele schnell erreichbar waren. Es war sehr familiär und entspannt. Gepflegter Pool mit genügend Sonnenliegen. Check in und aus ging reibungslos.Die Küche war hervorragend und landestypisch, was uns gut gefallen hat. Frühstück war ausreichend mit frischem Obst und wenn gewünscht mit leckerem Omlette oder hopper. Das Personal ist aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Wir würden wieder kommen. Dankeschön 🙏

Everything! What a place! From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms are large, modern and with excellent air con for the hot nights. The food (both breakfast and dinner) are incredible. The pool is lovely and the whole complex is so clean. But staff are what stand out here - our host and all staff were excellent. Even though we checked out at a different time due to a change in our itinerary, the host still only charged us for the nights we stayed. I thought this was just so kind. I would recommend for anyone staying in Sigiriya to stay here!

Localisation super proche du rocher du Lion, nous y avons été à pieds. Le chef cuisinier etait au petits soins, nous y avons mangé notre meilleur curry de tout le séjour. Le petit dejeuner changeait tous les jours et etait pas mal du tout. Les chambres sont propres.

We stopped here planning on just staying for one night but as my husband was not well stayed for two.
The hotel is small however the rooms are very spacious. The staff are amazing and very friendly, especially Bernard who went above and beyond to ensure my husband was looked after. He even bought some local medicine for him which thankfully worked.
The meals are all freshly cooked and the chef always came to chat and make sure that everything was to our liking.
It is close to Lion Rock which was amazing to see.

The hotel is brand new and only has a few rooms so is peaceful. The owner was very helpful in arranging a driver to take us to our next hotel. Very good Sri Lankan breakfast with egg hoppers made fresh in front of you.
