Just what we needed as a base of operations.
Pros:

Staff friendly and welcoming. Room was very good and just what was needed. Clean and well ordered. Everything you needed was there and coped well with our rather boisterous toddler - and as it was Easter, gave us a chocolate egg and a colouring book which was very much appreciated.

Cons:

Unusual smell in the room - got used to it and getting an air freshener would have sorted it . Buffet style breakfast under hot lamps meant food was a little dry.

Perfectly but could be an absolutely stunning hotel with investment
Pros:

All very clean but also very tired. Once upon a time this must have been a grand hotel. Definitely more faded grandeur today.

Cons:

Bathroom and decoration must have been 40+ years old. Breakfast was generous but had been out to long and needed topping up. Booked a double and child room. Got three single beds.

Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms in a classic old Scottish hotel
Pros:

The hotel has a beautiful charming vibe. It felt like the perfect place to stay for our first night in Scotland. The decor feels very Scottish without getting tacky, it just feels like old fashioned charm. There are lots of communal spaces including comfy lounges. The room and ensuite were huge. The town itself is very cute, and both the view of the hotel from the town and the town from our window in our room were gorgeous! The staff were friendly and the meals included in the half board were good value.

Cons:

There was no normal tea at breakfast, only herbal. There was a singer performing downstairs, which was fine, but we could hear them quite loudly in our room after we went to bed.

Pros:

Wonderful situation, lovely staff and every year I return they are upgrading rooms.
They are also very welcoming with dogs. I really enjoy my visits here.

Cons:

Tartan in the lift, on the walls and floor- seriously can't think of anything else 😆. I keep returning as the price is excellent, the building beautiful, and a lovely welcoming atmosphere,
