The website states swimming pool available all year yet it wasn’t available and not even filled We had picked this hotel because we had known that we had a long drive so the thought of swimming and resting by the pool was a deep wish

Charming and unique hotel nestled by a lake in Charente region. Stunning views from the restaurant. As if in Tuscany! I came here with my mom after a long road trip. Very restorative stay.
No elevator for mobility impaired :( but the staff was extremely helpful to assist my mom up the stairs.
the intentions were good...
there is clearly no management that feels responsible at this place. all staff takes it easy, is helpful but chaotic and unorganized
when the breakfast is finished (fro which you need to announce timing and wishes the day before !) they bring you the eggs etc
same at dinner, chaos, at a Michelin star restaurant on a table of two, the staff should know whom ordered what.
light bulbs in the bathroom all broken, I replaced one myself to fix it etc etc

Superb lakeside location, very peaceful, in ancient property with fascinating history. Terrace overlooking lake for dinner would be hard to better. High quality, well presented haute cuisine.
We would have liked some of the food and drink to have slightly stronger flavours, though this is possibly a personal preference.

Everything. Location, rooms food and owners. Room and ensuite good size. Comfortable beds. Owners were charming and very welcoming.
Impossible to find due to published address not recognised by satnav. After an hour driving round in circles, phoned owner who gave a completely different street name. Found it before dark. If after dark, don't know where we would have landed up.
