Great potential but needs some love.
Pros:

Closeness to the beach and restaurants. Nice looking indoor and outdoor pool area, but the pool was closed the first day and a large pool party was going on during the second day. Loved the look of the historical hotel.

Cons:

Very dated. I understand the building is old, but some money should be used to update the rooms. The bathroom needed a new sink and shower. The tower fan offered no relief from the heat for the large family room. We had two children (one toddler) and we were worried they would get heatstroke. We asked for another fan, but we were told none were available. A pedestal fan (not a tower fan) would have been much better and produce more air circulation. The windows barely opened so cold air couldn’t enter the room. We ended up wetting towels and placing them on the children while they slept.

The breakfast buffet could be improved to offer more colorful healthy foods. It was mostly beige foods (sausage, toast, hash browns, bacon, beans…). The fruit was always out.

2 nights a disaster and the last 2 nights was great
Pros:

The staff where great, food was good too

Cons:

I am disappointed about Booking.com when I booked I couldn't find if the hotel room had an AC or not, so when I arrived at the hotel I got to know that our 2 rooms where without AC and I asked if I can at least upgrade them but the receptionist said sorry we are fully booked, and the problem was that I had paid that moment and couldn't cancel the booking.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

Everything, the room was dated, the bathroom was disgusting, the cleanliness was horrid, drawers full of sand, attention to detail there was none, I hate to think what else hadn’t been cleaned, the health and safety was atrocious, there was a nail protruding the carpet which our daughter had an injury, the staff were unhelpful, we requested a cot, had several conversations to ensure it was ready to arrive at 10pm and wait for the cot to be delivered upon a further request and then having to assemble it ourself. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

Lovely hotel with the lovely people and excellent service.
Pros:

Amazing views, beautiful room, lovely staff.

Cons:

There was no space around pool area, I choose the hotel because it had heated pool for the spring time and we were not able to use pool area as it was full.

Enjoyable but hotel needs sprucing up.
Pros:

Cooked breakfast was really good. Location and views both really good. Car park handy, this is an important consideration because a lot of hotels in Bournemouth don't have any parking. It is one of the reasons we have used this hotel many times. The Pool is good too.

Cons:

We have used this hotel many times. Firstly it was a Hallmark Hotel, then Best Western. It has now changed hands again and, frankly, standards have dropped a bit. The place looks a bit jaded now and we will not be visiting again. It needs an update. In particular the furnishings. Cooked breakfast was good but the only fruit was a few slices of melon. Continental breakfast was really not there. No ham. or cheese.

Avoid this hotel unless you want your stay on Bournemouth to be ruined.
Pros:

Location was ideal in terms of proximity to BIC as well as access to the beach.

Housekeeping staff were excellent; genuinely helpful and professional.

Cons:

Upon arrival, reception staff tried to take full payment even though the room was pre-paid in full. They didn’t bother to check beforehand.

A family room was booked, but it lacked a fridge of any kind. That meant no access to chilled drinks which, for an establishment presenting itself as 4 Star, just isn’t good enough especially when children are staying.

The lack of refrigeration facilities was made worse by the current heat wave. Not to worry though, “toilet paper” was proudly listed as an included room amenity!
