The lighting seemed fine . I’m not sure if there were bright lights that we didn’t access but we were okay.
We didn’t have hot water when we first checked in but it was resolved. We were told construction on the street was the problem. There was something going on in the street.
Dinner
We received under cooked duck & pork on two different occasions & had to send it back. And, we had an issue with the tempura calamari appetizer as it was served soggy & undercooked due to adding pickled vegetables on top of the Calamari. Suggestion: Ditch the pickled Vegetables which did not enhance the meal.
Absolutely amazing service! One of the best hotel experiences I've had. Great location. Great restaurant.
Nothing.
The Virginia is absolutely gorgeous. We loved sitting on the porch, watching people go by, while having a drink. We also thoroughly enjoyed having a delicious breakfast out on the porch.
I was also delighted that we could use the pool at Congress Hall because we were staying at The Virginia
I loved everything
Lovely, clean, comfortable beds.
Stairs
Beautifully decorated
Difficult to get help with luggage and car.
The Virginia is very atmospheric and the staff are helpful ... However ..
We had a three night booking, but left after two nights. We had gone for a relaxing stay and instead found ourselves in rooms (first 311, then 301) "infested" with the loud sounds of the machinery on top of the Virginia restaurant and the neighboring Mad Batter restaurant. It was uncomfortable to be in the rooms until the restaurants turned off their machines late at night. We live in NYC, but found the Virginia noiser and less relaxing than our NYC apartment. Also Room 301 had peeling wallpaper and a broken window.
Needs an upgrade. Including soundproof windows.
