Great Location for a couple for a peaceful time!

My partner and I stayed one night at Waasala Eco Luxury Heaven in Anuradhapura and it was the perfect romantic getaway during our Sri Lanka trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the incredibly warm and attentive staff. The manager and team went out of their way to make us feel special, offering helpful tips for exploring the ancient sites nearby.
The hotel lives up to its "Eco Luxury" name beautifully. Nestled in lush, green surroundings with beautiful gardens and plenty of bamboo and trees, the property feels like a peaceful oasis – fresh air, tranquil vibes, and a real connection to nature. Our room was spacious, modern, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, a nice bathroom, and all the little touches that made it feel luxurious. We loved relaxing on the balcony in the evening.
The highlight for us was the stunning outdoor swimming pool – we had it almost to ourselves and enjoyed a refreshing dip under the stars. The food was another standout: both breakfast and dinner were delicious with fresh, flavorful Sri Lankan and international options. Everything tasted homemade and was beautifully presented.

Horror hotel. Neglected, unsanitary scam. Avoid completely!
Pros:

The staff was friendly and welcoming, calling their stay “a home away from home.” The accommodations provided basic amenities typical of a stay in Sri Lanka, including a mini fridge, air conditioning, and toiletries.

Cons:

The cockroaches, ants on the floor and walls in the bathroom, and bugs smeared on the ground and crawling out of the bed made the accommodation extremely unhygienic. The property had very poor maintenance, allowing insects to easily enter. This was not limited to our room; the owners proudly showed us other rooms, which had the same issue. Nobody was there except us. We left as quickly as we could.

The owners did not take responsibility for the condition of the accommodation they provided. We mistakenly paid in advance before seeing the rooms, as they pressured us to do so, claiming the system was closing.

We were entitled to a refund, but they made no effort to process it, even after Booking.com confirmed the changes. They have since stopped responding and are no longer reachable, while the refund remains due and unprocessed.

We have stayed in many accommodations while traveling across Asia over the years, and in our experience we have never had such a bad and unpleasant experience. It is disappointing to be treated this way while on vacation, when you simply want to relax and not be misled. Would not recommend to anyone. Avoid at all costs and choose accommodation in the Old Town to see the stupas.

Pros:

The pool was great to enjoy after a long and hot day. Staff friendly and even changed our dinner when we say it was too spicy. We appreciate their hospitality

Cons:

Rooms were very dirty, mould on the toilet and several cockroaches. Food was not bad but unfortunately the worst we had in Sri Lanka.

Pros:

Beautiful location, very well kept gardens and a lovely pool to swim in.
All staff very professional, attentive and helpful. The accommodation was spacious. It has a lovely dining room , bar and veranda.

Nice boutique style stay with places to relax after a day out exploring.
Pros:

The staff were very helpful. The pool was great. The rooms and relaxing areas were very comfortable and relaxing.
The breakfast and dinner were delicious. Being the start of the season there were a few 'Fawlty Towers' type moments which only made the place more amiable.
