Dated but serviceable
Pros:

The staff at Sunset Shores were generally relatively friendly but more could be done to ensure that solo female travellers feel thoroughly welcome and safe. It's good that the hotel has a pool and beach access albeit some of the hawkers on the beach are unpleasant (there is nothing the hotel can do about that). The bed in my room was very comfortable. The cocktails and service at the bar were great.

Cons:

The room I had was dated. There was no table or chairs in the room which made it impossible to work in the room (I was travelling on business) or to eat room service. There were no instructions about how to use the TV in the room or the TV channels available. The safe in my room was broken and inoperable.

Room service was a little chaotic. When I ordered my meal arrived without cutlery and plainly there was no table at which to eat said room service.

The "Caribbean" breakfast was unpleasant. The salt fish was very dry and clearly pre-made. The bakes were too large and greasy. There were relatively limited healthy options on the menu for the hotel restaurant.

Great location! Beautiful ocean views!
Pros:

Loved this beach front hotel. Beds were super comfortable. Staff was great. It was nice having a restaurant at the hotel. Location was perfect. Walkable distance from nearby restaurants and a short boat ride to Young Island.

Intentionally rude staff, enough to make our stay feel wholly unwelcomed.
Pros:

The location, pool and sea were great. I loved walking directly out into the courtyard.

Cons:

Firstly, they put us in the wrong room. After 3 phone calls in which they said our King bed wasnt available (as it was listed) they switched us to a King room. They lied about the availability of the room. Additionally, food service (which options were limited in this location) was terrible. There was plenty of staff, and it felt as if we were deliberately ignored. We had to go to a neighboring hotel for their food service multiple times as they would make us wait 45+ minutes to even get a menu when there was no excuse (empty restaurant, staff loitering). When we ordered a drink at the empty bar at 5pm, she ignored us and continued to wash glasses. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks. They “put it on the room” and did not charge the room, rather postponed the stay by charging us separately for the drinks after we left (they made our shuttle turn around after we checked out in person). They did not book our taxi at the requested time, they booked at 11:30, when we asked for 12pm. As understanding and low maintenance guests who make an effort to be more than polite, we were treated rudely in nearly every interaction. The security guards were impolite in instructing us to wash sand off our feet, and pointed to a small sign (not visible) facing away from the direction where the sand was when I walked on the patio after the beach. One security guard snapped at my partner for not having a towel on the beach chairs, and did not apologize when he saw that my partner did in fact have a towel. We are not picky people by any means, but the interactions alone were enough to feel isolated and uncomfortable. The cleaning staff, and one security guard “Dowie” was exceptionally kind, though.

Great location and perfect stay !
Pros:

Great location! The property is very nice, direct access to the beach. Everything was perfect and clean. I liked the room and the balcony with the sea view. Beds were super comfy. Would I stay again? yes because of the location. It’s a really nice place. If you are looking for daytrips hotel next door has travel agency. Some of the Staff was helpful like the security and Ronisha from reception. Public transportation available outside the hotel mini busses that run downtown.

Cons:

Some of the staff could be more helpful and nicer like bar and breakfast service. Otherwise everything perfect
