We had an incredible stay! The property is stunning, blending a beautiful vintage look with impeccable cleanliness. The location is peaceful, and waking up to the sounds of birds was a highlight.
A huge thanks to the staff, especially Nitish, for being so attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the curated activities, the morning bird walk and the evening plantation walk led by Azad, who was very knowledgeable. It was also such a thoughtful touch that the hotel provides binoculars for bird watching. It really elevated the experience!
Prospective guests should note that Teanest Annexe serves an a la carte breakfast, unlike the buffet offered at the main Teanest property, a detail missing from the listing.
Unfortunately, our dining experience was disappointing. Chef Sunil seemed overwhelmed by the 'Earl Grey' menu. Despite pre-ordering the night before, breakfast was so delayed we had to leave for our Ooty train on empty stomachs on the third day of stay. The food quality was also an issue. Sambar served in the dinner was excessively spicy, causing me physical distress and a sleepless night. Even after specifically requesting mild food the next morning, the Poori Bhaji was served topped with red chilies.
We ended up eating breakfast at the main Teanest property for the remainder of our stay and enjoyed dinner at local spots like Cherrie Berry (our favorite), Earl’s Secret, and Periodic Table instead.
Drivers should be aware that the approach road from the entrance gate is quite steep (about a 30 degree incline) and currently in poor condition; it will definitely test your car’s clearance and power. Additionally, parking at the Annexe is very tight. Since there are two rooms, you may find yourself blocked in or needing to coordinate a tricky reversal if the other guest needs to leave first.
für Spaziergänge in der Plantage, die Lage
Das junge Personal, kann kaum Englisch sind unfreundlich. Glücklicherweise kam dann später ein Manager, der unser Ansprechpartner war.
Tea nest was a beautiful place to stay. The hotel is clean and beautiful, and the views are amazing (keep watching the fog to see it lift and move). The tea provided was all delicious, and the meals were great. The absolute highlight were the casual and deeply informative tours by their Naturalist Guide (was his name Az? I waited too long to write this review). He was so knowledgeable about the tea, plants, birds and animals of the region.
Dinner isn't included - so just be careful with it saying "all inclusive" - also most hotel fees in cash so make sure you bring cash!
Overall we had a wonderful stay - courteous, kind and polite staff, clean rooms/toilets/good food and very scenic
Location
Compaire to cost is higher side
The ambience, the variety in food, the hospitable staff all very good. All in all a great experience while enjoying the yummy spread
Nothing comes to mind. We were looked after very well😀
Great location, good breakfast, helpful staff
Room heating
The tea plantation walk and the continental breakfast options.
We were in the Basil room, which is in an Annex. This location is really missing the atmosphere, and we could only difficulty communicate with the staff. We were not allowed to have breakfast or dinner in the main building.
The location the breakfast
Rooms can be a lil better .. the kitchen is in thenmiddle of the hpuse
Several things:
The tea-inspired menu’s: delicious subtle fine dining in the tea fields.
Every day bird-watching in the morning and walk at end of day, led by very aimable guide (all complimentary, and even extra binoculars available!)
Very helpful staff.
We ourselves were underdressed (we didn’t expect such low temperatures) so we were somewhat cold in the dining room (when I told this at departure, they said to arrange some blankets next time we come:).
If you plan your visit to Coonoor. You stay at this place. Period.
The location, the view , the property is exceptional. I booked the lemon grass room. It was breathtaking.
Stayed 4 nights. Nice views of hills and tea and rooms clean with good showers. The highlight was Azad, the hotels’s naturalist a lovely man and enormously knowledgable. He takes guests on guided bird and plantation walks. The food is good generally especially dinner.
The main downside we thought is that the hotel feels rather soulless- would be better if they divided the reception area off to enable a congenial lounge to be made from the rest where guests could sit and talk to each other. At the moment it’s a large room where staff play games part of the day. Doesn’t seem quite right for a hotel that’s trying to be professional. Also they could easily make a better sitting area on the terrace - there are odd tables scattered but few chairs!
Very clean, comfortable beds, bird watching and plantation tour excellent
Reception not always manned, difficult to find staff to help. Bedrooms not as nice as in the photographs
