Funky place with a great host.
Outside grounds and sitting area are really charming. Rooftop is good for views and photos.
Meals were fresh and delicious.
Unreliable wifi
Not really walking distance to town centre
The window coverings let too much light into the room at night
Great value for money! It’s just about 10 minutes from town, and there’s a beautiful garden at the back where you can relax and listen to the nearby stream. In the evening, the rooftop is the perfect spot to catch the sunset. Louis from the staff is super helpful and makes a really good breakfast too.
Super nice spot nearby the river
Good vibe and amazing sunset from the roof
A bit noisy in the morning because of the school
everyone was friendly and nice.. Johnson is chilled and a cool dude, .I liked the cleaning lady ,she has a bubbly personality and infectious smile
Wifi....Wifi is non-existent. If you really need to use Wifi or rely heavily on Wifi, please don't book this place you will get frustrated. Johnson will connect you to wifi when you ask for a wifi password but you will only be connected for a short period i suspect he connects you to his mobile data...i could be wrong...I saw couple of people getting frustrated over this. and they were constantly complaining..but if you could do without Wifi like myself, I highly recommend the place... .I will definitely stay there again next time I visit Arusha..
The common area which is spacious n paintings around
No WiFi. I have read the reviews for this hostel that had mentioned no wifi. I thought it will be improved. However the situation is same. No Wifi. Therefore I move to another hostel in city center with good WiFi.
The water pressure is extremely low when I take warm bath, very little water. I took 45 minutes to wash my hair n bath. I still feel unclear.
The location is far way from town. It is very difficult to find this hostel. There is no real road for 20 minutes are stony muddy, little rocks path. If u go to the city it would take around 40 minutes it called fast pace walk.
I am not happy with this hostel, because it has mentioned in booking.com this hostel has free Wi-Fi. The truth No WiFi. and in very inconvenient location n extremely little water warm shower. Not recommend this hostel.
Now I move to another hostel in city center, the difference price is one usd for 2 nights. That means 0.50 usd per day. But in this new hostel has good WiFi, excellent location with warm nice, a lot of water bath.
Great atmosphere. Secure location. Accommodating hosts. We went on a safari after our stay here and Johnson went out of his way and kept our suitcases in the hotel during our safari. There was a place to do laundry and dry clothes on the rooftop. Other visitors staying at the hostel were super nice and respectful too. Around 15 min walk to Arusha centre too so easy access.
Not an issue for us, but there was no air con so be aware if this is something you require. Maybe they would’ve offered an electric fan, but we didn’t need it so didn’t ask.
The kitchen and garden
No wifi at all
Nice and very cheap place where you can relax and meet interesting people. 😊
Everything was very romantic, just like in my youth, when I dreamed of hippie camps.
The hosts were welcoming and ready to help with anything or offer advice.
The owner personally drove us to the airport in his own car. Highly recommended.
The staff is always ready to help you. The facilities are amazing, very close to the river and you can feel closer to nature with chill vibes, but not far from the city. The breakfast was amazing and the dog is a good friend. Everything for a good price. I recommend it !
No WiFi
Lovely hostel lovely staff, everyone with big smile. Love there and the country! Perfect location!
Nothing.
Friendly Owner, friendly stuff, instresting Guests,
Outdoor and Meeting Area
Good price. If all you need is a budget, basic stay in Arusha this is a decent option. As long as you set your expectations right.
Met some lovely Germans guests.
The owner was helpful and welcoming.
Basic but clean and comfortable double bedroom.
Good option if you just want a basic and cheap option, with no frills.
Louie the cleaner and cook was friendly and did our laundry for a fair price.
WiFi is basically not present, it seems the owner turns it off to save money. So it's best to not expect it.
Location is a bit out of the way and taxis struggled to find it, having to drive on bumpy dirt roads. Also apparently not the safest area. Solo female travellers need to be aware.
Bathrooms not cleanest. Only one shower was hot water, and there never seemed to be toilet roll in all toilets.
Slow service. I asked for a towel on Tuesday, and only got in on Thursday after asking again.
There was an argument between the owner and a guest regarding use of the kitchen. Apparently there is an extra cost to using it, perhaps there needs to be better communication on booking.com for facilities.
The host were very friendly and helpful
A perfect place to chill and enjoy unforgettable activities.
- NICELY LOCATED , quiet area , especially at night, with little local shops around ( a little bit out of the city but easy to reach on foot or by bike)
- FEEL LIKE HOME and SAFE : friendliest dog ever, lovely and caring mum, nice staff
-COMFY place: kitchen and free breakfast, comfy beds, hot shower possible, colourful painted common area with sofas and a big table , perfect to meet and share (beers and music) with friendly people from all over the world
- beautiful GARDEN to observe nature and chill ( hammocks , mattress , barbecue ...)
- ROOFTOP with views : sunset over the neighbourhood , sunrise over the hill , beautiful sky full of stars, river, mount Meru...
- next to the DAYCARE , don't miss a chance to meet, play and support the awesome kids
- with Johnson, the smiling and welcoming owner, it's easy to organise transport and many ACTIVITIES ( safaris, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, waterfalls day trip etc.) to add nights or to leave your backpack during another trip around , so don't hesitate to extend and come again :)
The Owner of the Hostel is a lovely guy who was very welcoming and helped us with a lot of stuff we had to organize. The rooms are big and comfortable. Everything was very clean. There is hot water in the shower. The garden and the little "Rooftop" are perfect to relax (if you don't travel in the rainy season like we did). The breakfast ist basic but good. For the price we paied I think it is one of the best hostels I ever stayed in. I would always come back to this place if I every stayed in Arsuha again.
It was not so easy to find because the hostel is in the suburbs of Arusha. We used Google Maps to come close enough and then asked around. If nobody is answering the door immediately, don't worry, just stay persistend ;)
