What I liked most about this hotel was its fantastic location in Santa Teresa. The neighborhood had so much charm, and we were able to walk to restaurants, cafés, shops, and many of the area’s attractions, which made exploring very easy. It was the perfect base for experiencing the local atmosphere without relying on transportation. On top of that, the hotel offered excellent value for the price. For what we paid, it exceeded our expectations and was a great choice for our stay.
The main drawback was the hotel entrance. It’s located directly through the outdoor dining area, which felt a bit awkward every time we came and went. Walking through while guests were eating—especially with large suitcases—made it feel like we were interrupting their meals. The space is also quite narrow, making it difficult to maneuver luggage. Fortunately, we arrived very early in the morning when the restaurant wasn’t open, so we avoided that on check-in, and we also left early on departure.
I was also a little confused about the housekeeping service. Our room was serviced on the first day, but after that it wasn’t cleaned again during our stay. I wasn’t sure if that was the hotel’s policy, especially since there was a no food or drink policy in the rooms.
Finally, aside from the staff member who checked us in, it wasn’t very clear who hotel management or the front desk contact was if we needed assistance or had questions during our stay.

Très bon emplacement dans le charmant quartier de Santa Teresa. Le personnel est très gentil et surtout le petit déjeuner et le restaurant sont vraiment très bons. Meilleurs rapport qualité prix ! Il y a aussi des artistes qui viennent jouer, c’est très sympa.
Quarto muito pequeno, degrau para o banheiro muito perigoso, nada no frigobar, chão em desnível, e barulho excessivel.

Wer Santa Teresa mit seinen Farben, seinem Leben, seiner Kultur liebt, der wird auch den Armazem Sao Joaquim lieben. Santa Teresa ist eine bunte Insel, mitten in Rio, und der Armazem Sao Joaquim mit seiner Lebendigkeit und seinen Farben mittendrin . Wer den Komfort eines Mittelklassehotels in Copacabana sucht, wird enttäuscht sein. Wer einen bunten, lebendigen Platz in Rio sucht, der wird hier gerade richtig sein.
Dazu fällt mir nichts ein.
I really enjoyed the location and the overall atmosphere of the property. The bed was very comfortable, which made for a great night’s sleep, and the reception staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay.
The window in my room did not close completely, which allowed both street noise and daylight to enter the room. The bathroom also had an unpleasant odor. In addition, there was an issue at breakfast when I was charged incorrectly. Instead of charging for the bread-and-eggs option, they attempted to charge separately for the bread and the eggs, effectively doubling the price. The staff also seemed unhappy when I pointed out the mistake and asked for the bill to be corrected.
