An attractive location on the estuary, with interesting dinner menu and pleasant service.
Pros:

The cooked breakfast selection was excellent, and delicious. The granola bitty and over-sweet: a mixed flaked muesli would have catered for those wanting for a less high-sugar option. there were nuts and seeds to add which were lovely. The coffee was particularly good.

Cons:

It would have been courteous to forewarn us our room would be down the road: not great when the rain is beating down. The lights were good enough to read in bed - thank you - but the bathroom lacked a loo brush and an anti-slip bath mat and some more coat hangers would have been welcome, in addition to a stair rail reaching to the bottom of the stairs and a hand rail at the door onto the road.

Pros:

This is a lovely hotel with exceptional staff. We arrived early before going to a wedding and they kindly allowed us an early check in. Very clean room, vongirtable bef & everything we needed, also great breakfast.

A real treat as ever!
Pros:

Always a pleasure to visit the Mistley Thorn. Really friendly staff excellent food and facilities. We stayed in the new extension of the post office which was beautiful. The new cafe bar area and courtyard are really great too.

Pros:

A large very comfortable and attractive room overlooking the river. Lots of choice at breakfast and excellent service from the staff who were always helpful and friendly.
Enjoyed a late night drink in the new bar after meeting up with relatives.

Cons:

No real issues but through there should have been a bin in the bedroom for tea bags etc . There was a bin provided in the bathroom but possibly there should be one near the tea and coffee provided.

Very good have booked to return
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent and staff lovely. Our room had recently been renovated and it was very nice with a nice large walk in shower (room 18) and air conditioning which was an added bonus. All very clean and well appointed.

Cons:

Just a very minor suggestion from my husband, can you put a shaving mirror by the sink as there is currently no mirror by the sink.

A traditional, popular local hostelry with a very comfortable room and friendly staff
Pros:

This is a really pretty pub on rather a narrow busy road beyond which is the tidal river Stour - sadly we only saw it at low tide so the lovely river view we had hoped for was pretty impossible. It was busy when we visited which is always a good sign and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The food was good solid pub grub but not exceptional. Our room was lovely, simple but super comfortable and there was a good plug in fan PLUS a gorgeous ceiling fan too, which was a life-saver as it was very hot when we were there.

Cons:

The bathroom needed a good shower screen as the curtain wasn't really enough to contain the excellent pressure of the shower, hence the floor got wet and there was a slightly damp smell in the room on arrival. Tiny thing, overall very nice indeed.

Beautiful, comfortable hotel fabulous for a short stay
Pros:

Amazingly comfortable bed, great location for people without a car, super friendly staff - helpful and attentive. It is a beautiful location and breakfast is amazing!

Cons:

Not the fault of The Mistly Thorn but very hot temperatures made dinner a little uncomfortable, but room was made cooler with air con.
