Authentieke ryokan met dito eten!
Pros:

Het eten! We waren er 3 nachten met net zoveel diners. Elke keer anders, volledig Japans en heerlijk!!
Vriendelijk personeel, ruime en schone kamers.
Prachtige omgeving.

Cons:

Er was maar 1 douche voor 6 kamers, maar dat bleek geen enkel probleem.

Tolles, traditionelles Ryokan nahe an der Lianen-Brücke.
Pros:

Die Inhaber sind überaus freundlich! Das Ryokan ist sehr gut geführt und sauber! Zur berühmten Lianen-Brücke sind es wenige Minuten zu Fuss. Der Parkplatz ist genau gegenüber. Es gibt eine sehr schöne Terrasse, auf der man den Abend genießen kann.

Cons:

In unserem Zimmer hat es nach Essen gerochen.

Accueil inoubliable
Pros:

Une expérience inoubliable. Notre hôte, une dame d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle, nous a accueillis avec énormément de chaleur et nous a préparé un délicieux dîner ainsi qu’un excellent petit-déjeuner. Oubliez le luxe : une rencontre aussi authentique vaut bien plus que le plus bel hôtel. Merci du fond du cœur pour votre accueil. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

This was the most unique and authentic experience I’ve had in Japan so far
Pros:

I traveled through Shikoku for 10 days without a car and staying at this ryokan was the highlight of my trip. I really wanted to visit the vine bridge and it’s located just down the hill from Iya Kankou. I was already blown away when I got off the JR train at the Oboke Station but a 20-minute bus ride up the mountain brought me to an absolutely stunning setting. The owner was so gracious and accommodating. Staying here was a chance to have the ryokan experience AND get off the beaten path into the mountains of Shikoku. The dinner and the breakfast were also a chance to have traditional Japanese meals (the owner offered many variations) and all 10(!) dishes were delightful. I was nervous about sleeping on the traditional bed on the floor but it felt the same as every other mattress on my trip through Japan. I like firm mattresses so I’ve been sleeping very well. I chose Iya Kankou Ryokan because of other reviews I read and I’m so glad I did! Note: you don’t have to get the meals but everything around is closed at night. She also offers snacks and drinks you can help yourself to (and pay for at checkout) and you can enjoy these on an expansive deck looking across to the waterfall and surrounding mountains.
