Very quaint and olde worlde. Room, towels and linen clean. Beds comfy Fan in the room. Very convenient for us - we booked a parking space nearby and visited Kew Gardens and the National Archives. There is a lovely fish n chip cafe nearby and shops withing walking distance. It is part of a bakery and there is a dining room. Cakes were double the price if eating in , meals are expensive. Due to building age there was flaking plaster and painting required. Staff lovely.
No free water provided in the room (unlike Hilton, Hampton etc) Comprehensive mini bar in fridge in room at bar prices, which we did not use. Tea bags provided but no milk /sugar- which we purchased from a nearby shop. Toaster available. Stairs are narrow and steep and bathroom was small , floor uneven due to age of building and would be unsuitable for people with mobility problems. Room was very hot when we entered as curtains were open- would have appreciated curtains drawn to keep room cool - although a large fan was available..
A cool and spacious room ideal for our stay.
Great location - close to Kew Garden entrances, National Archives, the metro station and numerous pubs and restaurants. Appreciated the coffee maker and fridge, stocked with beverages for purchase. Comfortable and clean. Although we didn’t eat at the Tea House, we did buy some pastries to take away. But it was a very popular place: breakfast, mid day meal and tea.
The location for Kew and the main bus route was great. The beds were comfy.
Both rooms were totally shut up in the hot weather and curtains open when the staff knew we were arriving as we had already checked our bags in . The showers were hard to operate and the hot water took ages. The bathroom could have been a lot cleaner particularly the floor needed a good clean and the paintwork. The entrance and stairs were not welcoming and could have been a lot better.
The Original Maids of Honour has a quaint English charme and is located right next to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew, a lovely London district with cute little houses. You get 20% off in the tea room which we made lots of use of! We recommend getting a High Tea in the afternoon.
The staff was always welcoming and friendly.
During summer the rooms can get rather warm, because it's an old house, so it's not as well insulated. But they put a fan in our apartment which was helpful.
The location is excellent
TV was playing-up (no instructions or manual to refer to) shower was either too hot or too cold (again no instructions or manual)
Everything ! Super comfortable room, spacious and super clean and only 10 minutes walk to the stations -and super close to the bus station
Nothing
The location is great, especially if visiting Kew Gardens.
Staff were friendly and approachable.
Cafe next door offers tasty food.
Easy access via public transport and parking possible via permit.
Room 4 (vintage) should not be marketed when temperatures are above 25 degrees. Despite two large fans the heat was stifling and sleep impossible. There is a small window but no air flow and the room soon becomes sauna-like. We had to check out early as the room was unbearable. Also, the bathroom is tiny and by that I mean only room for one person to stand up. There is a dangerous step up to the bathroom which is ‘lipped’ so a trip hazard
The position opposite Kew Gardens and close to Kew and trains. . It was clean and comfortable
It was a small conversion ( possibly from a garage) .
Fijn guesthouse aan de Kew Gardens, vlakbij zijn leuke restaurantjes en de bakkerij/restaurant waar het guesthouse bij hoort is ook een aanrader. Heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel
Location - a short walk from the tube station and close to Kew Gardens
Very old fashioned. 1950s decor and as building work was going on the carpets in the corridors were dirty. Room was clean but very hot and opened window meant very noisy as on main road. Staff helpful but didn’t meet them.
Location, directly opposite Kew Gardens boundary wall and 5 min walk to main entrance gate.
Friendly staff.
The premises - the entrance hall, the stairs - smelly stair carpeting, not fitted with a decent safety handrail for such steep narrow stairs, the electruc cablea that were protuding along the hall from several other rooms and one cable definitely a trip hazard near top of stairs; room was so hot & stuffy - a large fan was left on floor but this also meant its cable was trailing across room; unable to leave window open as 1) on busy main road so traffic noise loud
2) safety issue - flat roof directly outside bedroom window would make for easy access for any intruder.
Small ensuite bathroom/toilet on raised step from bedroom. We tried the pull light, not working so shutting bathroom door meant being plunged into darkness. Reported to member of staff -Laura - pleasant friendly girl. Very apologetic, messaged owners but thought as it was a Sunday, they wouldn't be able to call anyone out. Obvious they didn't even reply. Why weren't the lights checked anyway beforehand? Were offered boxed cream tea on house and she brought a small angle poise lamp which had to be plugged in behind TV and placed outside bathroom door. This was pretty useless as didn't give enough light into bathroom.
My husband had prebooked tickets for Kew Gardens for my birthday, a table at a restaurant for dinner later on and a river trip from Kew next day so we had no choice but to stay despite our misgivings.
Honestly don't know how this place passed a health & safety check.
Owners ahould maintain property properly and have somebody available on call for maintenance issues.
Would NOT recommend this property due to its safety issues. .
The staff were very friendly, the location is great for visiting kew gardens and is a short walk to the station and to nearby pubs and so on. The rooms were completely fine.
Nothing in particular.
Great value, good location, easy self check in.
