The Whitehouse was a delight for us. Easily within walking to where we wanted to be.
Pros:

We had the small traditional Scottish breakfast. It was delish, and not at all small. This hotel is a very big part of the community historically and today. The couple running the hotel and kitchen are doing a great job. Let Susan or Zander know anything you need and they'll look after you. The pub, staff and patrons were the icing on the cake. We will most definitely return.

Cons:

Bathroom was a bit small and dated, but very clean and everything working.

Would happily stay again. Great price and friendly.
Pros:

Quirky hotel, easy to find, very friendly staff who made us feel welcome even though we arrived very late. Car park adjacent to building.

Cons:

Cold! The heating hadn’t been turned on, and even when we had the little oil radiator on it was still so cold - had to get up about 1am and put a jumper on. Towels ready for renewing- abstract bleach marked blobs and almost threadbare. No soap liquid in the dispenser on the sink. The only ‘choice’ for hot drink with the kettle was instant coffee (no tea).

Friendly, helpful hosts and staff…and delicious food.
Pros:

The evening meal and breakfast were of a high standard. The hotel was very busy because of a local heritage festival, but all staff found time to deal with requests or snags. When it was discovered the room TV was not working, the hosts took their own telly off their kitchen wall and gave it to me for the night. Respect!

Cons:

There were some issues, but they were dealt with pleasantly and inventively. In the past, under different management, I always had an en suite, but I was not quick enough to book and had a shared bathroom which I found difficult, but I will be a bit quicker next time when booking…and there will be a next time.

Pros:

Was very welcoming. The staff were very friendly including the owner. Had a weird experience in our room as the hotel is haunted. The breakfast was lovely but you have to order the night before

Cons:

We were in room 1 which was the top floor and both myself and husband have walking issues so found it a bit difficult to climb the stairs

Good base for touring Buchan, and I look forward to returning.
Pros:

Simple, classic cooked full Scottish. Wholesome and tasty.

Cons:

Would have liked some real ale in the bar, but recognise need to cater for local tastes and brews.
