Its location
Heating broken in room, which should never have been allocated to any paying customer
The portable Heaters made no impact, absolutely freezing on our return from our evening out.
Spoke to reception who handed an email address for manager who didn’t even have the decency to respond.
Breakfast facilities also grossly inadequate for the size of the hotel with large queues for what was a poor buffet.
Overall extremely disappointing, especially since we have stayed there several times before, and which is why we booked to stay there on this occasion. The poor service and lack of any acknowledgment of our complaint has ensured we won’t be back
The bed was comfortable. The location was very convenient for the centre of the city.
The room was small and the floor creaked quite loudly all over.
The room was spacious, with a lovely bed and a large bathroom with a walk in shower. Although some part of the hotel have been upgraded , the character of the hotels past connection with the railway was kept and the central location made it quick and easy to access the city centre's shops and eatery's. Also the large shopping centre Union Square was handy to have opposite the hotel.
The windows were hard to open and possibly need to be replaced for modern double glazing to reduce some of the outside noise and wind. The restaurant was a little dark and could do with being made brighter.

Hot items in breakfast could have been hotter as in most hotels unfortunately
Location; Reception & staff
Noise.....probably one of the worst hotels I've stayed in for soundproofing, whether it be from the roads/ Station nearby; poor windows which rattle with the slightest wind; or creaking floors. Not a great option if you want to sleep well!
Very close to everywhere I wanted to go to

Perfect location
Lovely and clean, very friendly helpful staff, lovely food, great value for money
Could have been helpful to have non slip matt for shower, if a person has mobility problems it is very difficult to climb in and out of bath
Reception and bar area were lovely, staff very welcoming. Great location.
Family room was not fit for purpose. Like stepping back to the 1940s with the decor. Headboards didn't match the size of the beds, only 1 bedside table, tiny mirror, no full length mirror. Heating jammed on. No towel rails in the bathroom, leak coming from bath, lacquer coming off the inside of the bath, water would either scald you or freeze you time about even though you didn't move the tap settings. No way did we let our 11 year old son use it, far too dangerous.
None of us slept a wink, room was right on the road overlooking Union Square and the window wouldn't shut properly. Cooked buffet breakfast was cold.
We have stayed here previously with no complaints but the room we were in had been fully refurbished.
I believe our expectations had been set too high because of this. We were very disappointed with the family room.
Location
Noise from other doors slamming soft close would be good.
Everything was excellent. The fridge in the room was a bonus.
