Pros:

The strong point of the property is Joseph. He's always present and available for every request, and he makes up for the shortcomings of the property itself. Unfortunately, Joseph alone isn't enough to keep the place running since there are 13 rooms to manage and he works non-stop from 5 AM to 11 PM!! He does everything in the property (coffee and tea for people, cleaning rooms, doing laundry for everyone, fixing problems, buying things missing in the room - like hairdryer)!

Good position close to the beach.

Cons:

The property is dilapidated. The rooms need to be renovated and possibly expanded. The bathroom had a leak from the toilet (Joseph worked to fix it), but the showers also need to be renovated (we had a bad experience during a shower with a shower pipe boken - always Joseph was ready so solve it). The owners of the property should invest money to improve the structure and hire another person to help Joseph. This is the only way to improve.

A breakfast service should absolutely be added, also because the price paid, compared to prices in Nilaveli and Sri Lanka in general, is not average.

Pros:

Our stay at the Coastal Hotel in Nilaveli was excellent. The room was spotless and well taken care of, and we appreciated that we could do laundry there. A special thank you goes to our host, Joseph, who was incredibly kind and always ready to help. He made us feel very welcome and even took care of us when one of us wasn’t feeling well. We truly enjoyed our time here and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Nilaveli.

Very friendly and caring Hotel staff!! Very kids friendly. Clean rooms, good shower. Since our Rooms was not booked the next day we were allowed to stay until the late afternoon. 3 minute walk to the beach.

Cons:

No Moskito Nets, a Lot of Moskitos in the rooms.

I had originally booked another guesthouse in Uppuveli, however it had a lot of mould, so I didn’t stay and found The Coastal Hotel instead. It was rustic, but clean and perfect for my 5 night stay. It is a 2 min walk to a spectacular beach with a few beach restaurants within a 10 min walk. The reception area has dining tables and a lounge area for the use of guests. The manager Joseph went out of his way to help me on a number of occasions and made sure my stay was seemless. He is an absolute credit to the hotel, extremely hard working, ensuring all of his guests are looked after.

Tolles, erschwingliches Hotel im guten Zustand in Nilaveli

Schöne, gepflegte Unterkunft
Pros:

Der Chef Joseph war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir haben kostenlos Kaffee und Tee morgens um halb 6 vor unserer Abreise angeboten bekommen. Saubere Zimmer, bequeme Matratzen. Klare Empfehlung für Nilaveli!

Pros:

Clean room, close to the beach and great host Joseph. He is so helpful and supportive. Tell him your concerns, and he'll help us find the best way. We need to go out to eat, but there are a couple of restaurants nearby.

Joseph als geweldige gastheer!
Pros:

De mensen in Sri Lanka zijn allemaal enorm aardig, maar de gastheer van dit hotel overtrof alle verwachtingen. Heel rustig en zorgzaam ontzorgde hij ons volledig. Er zit geen ontbijt bij het hotel, maar Joseph sneed fruit dat we gekocht hadden prachtig op borden en kleine flesjes water kregen we van hem als we die nodig hadden. Hij bracht ons naar mooie plekken met zijn tuktuk en regelde een geweldige driver voor ons naar Dambullah. We kregen zelfs een upgrade na een nacht naar kamers met balkon. Echt super!

De kamers zijn basic, maar helemaal oke, met airco en fan.

Best place in Nilaveli
Pros:

Accoglienza e servizio fantastico. Joseph ci ha trattato come famiglia, si è preso cura di aiutarci ad inviare le chiavi dell'hotel precedente che avevamo dimenticato nello zaino svegliandosi alle 5 del mattino senza chiederci niente.
Ci ha preparato una colazione ad hoc per il gruppo con frutta fresca, cocco da bere, dolci e piatti locali.

La struttura è a due passi dalla spiaggia, appena lontana dalla musica dei localini e quindi molto tranquilla.
Ottimo servizio qualità-prezzo per gli standard di Nilaveli con un'occhio in più per l'esperienza occidentale. Joseph ha lavorato nella ristorazione con una coppia di italiani che vivono sull'isola e porta l'esperienza e la cura italiana nell'ospitalità.
Ottimo caffè alla mattina :)

Pros:

Proprietario super gentile e disponibile. Ci ha dato ottimi consigli sulle escursioni e sui ristoranti. Se avessimo dovuto dare un voto solo per lo staff avremmo dato 10!

Cons:

Camera datata ma soprattutto il bagno lascia a desiderare. La struttura andrebbe rimodernizzata interamente. Aggiungere la possibilità di poter fare almeno la colazione.
