The building was beautiful, in a lovely setting. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Our room was small but REALLY badly maintained and absolutely filthy! The bedding and towels were fresh, but the rest was disgusting. There’s no way rooms like that should be let out. We reluctantly stayed the night as we didn’t have time to find anywhere else before going out for the evening. Also, neither of the ‘Hydra’ EV chargers worked. The manager gave us a full refund for our nights stay. It’s a real shame; for us and the hotel staff. The hotel owners need to ‘splash a little cash’ on this lovely hotel, as we won’t be returning until they do!
It was and older hotel which we enjoyed and was perfect location for trip down from Scotland - definitely stay here again
All ok
Very nice place, excellent value for money
Lovely period hotel with nice features. The bar is unique with lovely murals on the walls depicting Dickens' novels.
Pleasant and polite staff.
Excellent breakfast cooked to order.
The bed was awful. It was far too soft and uncomfortable.
My evening meal was not the best. Pasta Arrabiatta was drowned in sauce and not very spicy. Partner enjoyed his Butter Chicken though.
Socket for bedside lamp is hidden behind the bed and the lead is far too short.
Needed to charge the phone but had to charge it across the room.
Convenient location. Staff very friendly and obliging
Classic room we had was very ‘cosy’ and in need of an update
The spa is lovely.
The parking wasn't secure.
History. Location . Comfortable.
Noisy on last morning due to interior work.
Didn’t have room serviced so but awkward as had put wet towels in the shower to be collected but obviously had to dry them out as hadn’t been changed.
Lovely location, quiet, great comfortable seating; food was good and good choices. Breakfast options were very good too.
A bigger choice of non alcoholic drinks would be good.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bar area and food were very nice
Toiletries not topped up in the bathroom. Help with suitcases would be nice as there’s a lot of stairs but no lift.
The reception staff were very friendly
The entire hotel was very tired. The evening meal was very average. The hotel could do with a complete refurbishment.
Location, free and easy parking, plenty of areas to relax
Nothing, walls are quite thin but very understandable given the property
Nice room, good shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food. Parking right in front of hotel.
Nothing
Public areas, breakfast lovely, staff very friendly, bedroom was a bit tired, could do with some attention.
Broken blind in bathroom, mold on ceiling of bedroom.
