Great rooms and onsen. Poor options for evening meal.
Pros:

The room and the view were fabulous. The choice of beautiful private, indoor or outdoor onsen sets the hotel apart.

Cons:

No food is available on the property in the evening except the expensive degustation Japanese meal that must be booked in advance. No bar, no mini-bar, no small meals. This means a walk to the village in the snow in winter as the shuttle bus stops operating at 4pm.
