Good
Staff
The Spring View hotel located at the facing to the paddy field and we stayed at first floor level. The hotel staff is very friendly and food set menu and acceptable condition.
The hotel
Nice hotel in the middle of a green rice paddy. A few samples of antique furniture (not in our room though).
Though the hotel decor was obviously intended to have an antique vibe, some elements were instead quite cheap looking, old, rusty and shabby. I think the broken and worn off pieces of furniture should be repaired or replaced. Otherwise, I can't see how the price ($18, though even that Booking.com price was contested for a while by the employees) is justified.
Overall, it was noticable that the hotel hasn't really put much thought and care into the rooms layout. For example there were glasses on the cabinet, but no water. The water heater was off, so we had to ask the staff how to turn it on. The power sockets were behind the bed, so we had to nudge the bed a little from the wall to be able to get to it and charge our phones, etc.
If you are planning to walk towards Matale, for example to go to the Aluviharaya Rock Temple as we did, you will have to make a 500 m detour instead of cutting straight to the main road which is only about 100 m away, since there is no walking shortcut through the rice fields.
Staff is very good and polite.....
room was good and clean
