Great location, but you may be trapped a bit if you like to stroll around
Pros:

The location is great, the staff is great (most of them), the facilities were superb. Pool, Yacuzi, Kayaks, nature around. Pickup and drop off were OK. They carried the luggage for us.

Cons:

One has to know very well that in this hotel, you will always need a boat (lancha) to visit something, to eat out, to go for a drink elsewhere... A lancha will cost 100 GTQ (except when you arrive and leave) We were the only ones in the hotel, which made it a bit awkward ... we had everything for ourselves, but we also were on ourselves all the time.
The breakfast was not included and it wasn't very great ... the toast wasn't a toast but a rusk. Also the restaurant food isn't superb and if you're around a couple of days, it becomes a bit boring.A lancha to the town will cost you 15 minutes each way and some waiting time before they arrive at the town.

Heerlijk verblijf!
Pros:

Wij hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad bij Casa Caribe. Ruby en haar collega’s hebben echt hun best gedaan om ons verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Ruby is zelfs Engels aan het leren wat voor ons heel fijn was aangezien wij geen Spaans spreken.
Om bij het hotel te komen werden wij opgehaald per boot waarna wij een privé tour langs de mooie plekken kregen. Dat was echt genieten en een geweldig pluspunt. Voor de rest was de crew super vriendelijk en altijd bereid zich voor ons in te zetten.
Het was een heerlijk verblijf tussen de natuur aan het einde van onze reis om nog even lekker tot rust te komen.

Cons:

Het hotel ligt op een hele mooie plek, maar je moet met de boot om ergens te komen, waardoor we elke avond in het restaurant van het hotel moesten eten. Het eten was prima, maar eenvoudig.

Los servicios, la atención, limpieza y estancia fueron excelentes.

Cons:

Al ser una familia de 6, hubiera sido ideal poder contar con 2 servicios de sanitario, 1 en cada cuarto.

Getaway with family to Rio Dulce
Pros:

It was secluded and you really felt like you had the whole property for yourself - the location is amazing with the castle right in front of you. The staff tried to be friendly and go after your needs.

Cons:

Small little things - the tour operator didn't accept credit cards. The food was very basic (both in presentation and quality) and overpriced for what it (convenient for them, since you really are bound to them). One of our toilets broke during our stay which never is nice.

Een prachtige plek aan het water
Pros:

Mooie locatie aan het water, verder ook een hele accommodatie zelf. Van de kamer tot aan de leuke zitjes, hangmatten, het zwembad en de spelmogelijkheden (tafelvoetbal, badminton, voetbal). Een erg mooie plek! Verder was het contact erg gemakkelijk, de hostess sprak erg goed Engels.

De douche was soms wat lauw en de kamers zijn gehorig

A big mystery why this is not sold out daily
Pros:

Please book this place! A beatiful hotel on an amazing property overlooking the castillo and the Izabal lake. The kind and welcoming staff make it feel like a homestay experience, but will all the perks of a super comfortable hotel. Food was pretty good as well.

Cons:

It’s obviously not the hotel’s fault, but like other reviews mention as well, we were the only guests there, which can feel a little awkward (although we didn’t mind). Because of this the atmosphere can feel a bit empty and the staff just sits around all night. A minor annoyance was the time it took to pick us up with the boat from Rio Dulce, they should check their whatsapp a bit more.

Unique place to stay
Pros:

It is in a great location right on the waterfront. There are kayaks to use, a pool & nice seating & lounging areas. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were given a large family room which was very comfortable. The property is unique & beautifully decorated. We enjoyed our short stay.

Cons:

The food could have been better!

Great location with amazing views.
Pros:

Large clean comfortable room. Hotel had pool, jacuzzi and free use of the kayaks. Amazing view of the Castle of San Felipe and the hotel drop you there for free.

Cons:

Not many options for vegetarians in the restaurant and as you have to get a boat to the mainland can't eat elsewhere.
