Beautiful property, incredible experience. We were a part of the CR Open Diwnhill race. If you ride DH, this event is magic!
It was really simple equipment but totally fine for the time being.
You can’t forget that it is an old military base which is getting changed into a “camp” so that people can enjoy the environment and the history of Don Pepe.
The staff and is so friendly and helpful as well the breakfast was also a solid Costa Rican breakfast.
The nature is totally different from what you know and have seen in Costa Rica. It reminded us of the forest in Europe. Must do if you stay there is to visit the museum, it’s worth it.
The equipment is really simple, so for people who like it more “luxurious” it is not for them but we loved it there.
The dry and clean facilities. The hot shower. The big spider in the shower. The coyotes howling right outside the block during the night. That we were the only guests to enjoy the haunted atmosphere of what feels like a teenage summer camp (wouldn't have been surprised to see ghosts or a machete wielding serial killer there). The small TV in the lobby that turned itself on in the middle of the night with an audio channel adding to the haunted atmosphere of the place. The quality of the food in the nearby restaurant. The staff.
The uncomfortable beds that gave me a backache. The inability to sleep (well). The washed out road. The restaurant closing at 5 p.m. and only opening at 9 a.m. for breakfast
