Managed by a private host
Todo excelente, maravillosa ubicacion, tiene cerca todo lo que necesitas, supermercados, restaurante, barbería ... El aseo se la casa es genial, la atención del anfitrión es maravillosa
The location is good: the place is in a safe neighborhood and near Bus Terminal.
The bathroom is big and generally clean, for sure more clean than the rest of common spaces.
I speak only for the room I booked, I don't know if the other ones are fine.
That being said:
1 - the room smell very bad beacuse of a lot of leaks and moistures. It was very disappointing. I was prepared to stay in a basic and simple place but I took for granted that the minimum health and hygiene requests were take into consideration. Also the room were I stayed didn't have a window so you don't even have the possibility of change the air.
2 - the kitchen is always dirty. I expected to have some meal at the property, but once there the dirt and the condition of the kitchen turn off even the idea of cooking there.
3 - I was required to pay by cash and I found it extremely painful given that the bank charged me a lot to extract from another country and I don't like to move with a lot of cash, plus I was also surprised because in my stay in Uruguay I went to 3 other different places and they always accepted card payment, even in Cabo Polonio.
To summarize I don't recommend it, especially if you are in Montevideo doing remote work as my case.
But more in general moisture and leaks are a serious problem and the bare minimum I expect from professionals.
I absolutely loved the location, I liked that it wasn't in the middle of the busier part of Montevideo but had everything you needed. My room was neat, featuring a comfortable bed and a delightful balcony. I shared a well-kept kitchen, common area, and bathroom with just two other guests, ensuring a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.
The immediate surroundings were fantastic, with two charming bars just 20 meters away on either side of the street. Don't worry about noise – it won't disrupt your sleep. Additionally, a large supermarket is conveniently located within less than 100 meters, making it easy to grab essentials.
For dining options, the area offers a variety of choices, including Armenian cuisine. For an authentic Uruguayan experience I would recommend "Parrillada El Alemán," (15 min walk) a restaurant featured in Anthony Bourdain's food documentary "Parts Unknown" during his visit to Uruguay. Try the sweet "morcilla"!. Not too far away but easily reachable by bus is "Escaramuza," a beautiful bookstore and cafe. Or grab one of the best "chevito" I had at "El Tinkal" with a view of the ramblas.
Moreover, the beach is just a short 15-minute walk away from the house, providing a perfect escape to the sun and sea. The entire house is not only clean but also well-maintained, and the host, Veronica, was incredibly helpful, making me feel truly welcome.
With bus stops just a few minutes away, it's convenient to explore Ciudad Vieja and beyond. Overall, my stay was enriched by the delightful combination of a great location, comfortable amenities, and the warm hospitality of Veronica. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Uruguay.
If I really have to nitpick, the room with the balcony was a tad empty. Maybe tossing in a table and chair could spruce things up a bit. But I get it, the place is still pretty fresh, and honestly, it didn't bother me.
