Location was superb. Food was excellent
Being very picky, as a cider drinker there was no choice. I’m sure a few bottles of a vintage cider could be stocked. Also my wife rarely drinks, ther was not a huge selection of low/no alcohol drinks.
The staff at the hotel were exceptionally helpful and very friendly . A lovely and cohesive team

Great location.
We choice hotel for location and 4 star quality. Given most people choose the hotel because they intend to explore Lake District, staff knew very little about activities; I expected a service where reception sits down with you and possibly calls places to secure sightseeing or activities etc however we were given a leaflet. Reception should have known more what’s going on around and be more helpful than giving us a leaflet of local companies who advertise there.

That we couldn't stay longer!

Excellent lakeside location, friendly and helpful staff. Spacious and comfortable room. Hotel has lots of history and lovely grounds. Really enjoyed relaxing by the open fires.
It is a old building built in 1797 which we love staying in these kind of places, the interior has been kept original as much as possible and it is nicely decorated giving it a warm cozy feel and a nice atmosphere with low lighting it gives a lovely ambiance in every room, the food is excellent and very tasty
The only thing I found was the way reception was set out, as you walked through the front entrance you have a front desk straight in front of you which is absolutely fine, but to the right of you at the back of the room there is another desk to me just looked out of place.
All the staff were fantastic. Very helpful, attentive & friendly.

Location is good with beautiful view. The room is big and it’s a beautiful refurbished
The building looks very nice from the a far, but it looked tired and need a lot of maintenance and paint.
When I first enter the building that is an odd smell at the reception area, they could do with some perfume for such luxury hotel
Location and ambience amazing… staff were wonderful at all times… the food was of the highest standard… breakfast the best I’ve tasted for as long as I recall…
