Highly recommended
Pros:

We've had a wonderful stay at Hotel El Castello. The staff was very caring and thoughtful - we were welcomed with local tea and biscuits, and they even provided us with ORS to prevent mountain sickness. Bottled water was delivered every day. The staff also helped us plan our trips and arranged everything we needed. Special thanks to Anu for being so helpful and friendly :)
Breakfast and other meals were usually tasty and healthy, and consisted mostly of local food.
Great location - very close to a supermarket and within walking distance of Leh Main Market.

Cons:

It took a long time for the shower water to heat up. The road leading to the hostel is very narrow and poorly lit, with quite a lot of car traffic. The rooms were not as cozy as they appeared in the photos.

Everything was nice, clean and the staff made an extraordinary effort to make you feel welcome. Big shoutout to Anu and Steffie and the rest of the team for the experience, their kind and helpful attitude and just the general vibe and atmosphere and their help in recommending places in Leh and arranging trips

Room was clean and spacious. Comfortable with heater and warm water.

Restaurant was really good. Rarely felt the need to go out in Leh for major meals.

Location was perfect, 5 min walk from Leh center

Pros:

The food was amazing. The lunch and dinner, both were amazing. The staff was courteous, wonderful and soft-spoken. The location is prime - exactly 5 mins from the market. It's a good walk to get acclimatized. Overall, a wonderful experience. Amazing for small groups and solo travellers

Cons:

The only thing they can improve on is the breakfast. It was not up to the mark personally. However, I can write it off considering the other facilities in the hotel. They do have some challenges with parking right now so a big group might find it hard to get parking space.

Pros:

Fantastic hotel located about a 7 minute walk from mall road. It’s quiet and comfortable. Anu is the best host I have ever had in 19 years of constant travel and staying in hotels across the world. Restaurant has excellent food and room service. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely be coming back to this hotel in a few months.

A good choice to stay in leh
Cons:

Location is very central but Car cant reach at hotel entrance, 2 wheeler can. You might have to wait and understand how the bags will be picked by reception person. In night while coming back walking from car point to hotel gate (as car cant reach), you might encounter dogs.

Rest property, staff, rooms, b/f, pricing all are amazing !!!

Une vraie bonne surprise ! Hotel spacieux et confortable portant l'empreinte de la région.
Pros:

Un hôtel soucieux de l'accueil des voyageurs. L'acclimatation à l'altitude est prise au sérieux et le personnel s'assure que vous avez bien reçu toutes les informations et les consignes de prudence. Le personnel multiplie les petites attentions pour que votre séjour soit agréable.
L'endroit est très propre, les chambres sont spacieuses, le petit-déjeuner est raisonnablement bon.

Cons:

La connexion internet doit vraiment être améliorée, en particulier lorsque l'on considère que les téléphones étrangers ne fonctionnent pas dans la région.
Un vrai café bien fort au petit déjeuner serait un plus.

8월에 라다크 레를 다녀왔는데, 아직도 그때의 기억이 너무 좋아요!

일단 숙소는 24시간 따뜻한 물이 나와서 정말 좋았어요. 라다크에서는 따뜻한 물이 얼마나 소중한지 아시죠? ㅎㅎ 덕분에 여행하는 동안 편하게 지낼 수 있었어요.

무엇보다 호텔 사장님과 직원분들이 정말 정말 친절하세요! 🥰 처음부터 너무 따뜻하게 맞아주셔서 기분이 좋았어요. 특히 제 이름이 인도에서 유명한 꽃 이름과 비슷하다면서 친근하게 이름을 불러주셨는데, 그게 참 기억에 남아요. 낯선 여행지에서 그렇게 다정하게 이름을 불러주시니 괜히 더 반갑고 좋더라고요.

사장님이 주신 레 지도도 정말 최고였어요! 🗺️ 지도 보면서 여기저기 돌아다녔는데 정말 유용했고, 추천해 주신 맛집들도 하나같이 너무 맛있었어요. 맛집 추천은 정말 믿고 가셔도 됩니다!!

그리고 사장님 소개로 판공초 4박 5일 투어도 다녀왔어요. 이 투어는 정말 잊을 수 없을 것 같아요. 함께한 가이드분이 너무너무 좋은 분이셨거든요. 여행하는 내내 세심하게 챙겨주시고, 저희를 진심으로 대해주시는 게 느껴져서 정말 감동했어요. 🥹

사실 라다크는 풍경만으로도 충분히 아름다운 곳이잖아요. 그런데 이번 여행은 그곳에서 만난 사람들 덕분에 더 특별했던 것 같아요. 좋은 사람들을 만나니 여행이 몇 배는 더 행복해지더라고요.

숙소 사장님과 직원분들, 그리고 투어 가이드까지 모두 너무 감사했어요. 단순히 숙소에 머물렀다기보다 좋은 인연을 만나고 온 기분이에요. 💕

8월의 라다크는 제게 정말 오래도록 기억에 남을 여행이 될 것 같아요. 다음에 레에 간다면 꼭 다시 이곳에 머물고 싶어요!

our stay was so good that we decided to stay for another couple of nights. the team managing the hotel are wonderful. they are always eager to go the extra mile to help you out and to make your stay more comfortable and memorable. we will always come back to leh for the people here who made us feel like family especially anu who is a wonderful human being.

First, the location is extremely inconvenient. The hotel is situated inside a narrow lane with no direct car access. Google Maps brought us only to the main road, and from there there were no hotel signs or directions to help us find the property. Arriving at the hotel was unnecessarily stressful.

The hotel's checkout time is a strict 9:00 AM, which is unusually early and highly inconvenient for guests. Even more disappointing was the staff's complete unwillingness to provide even a one-hour extension despite our request.

Upon check-in, there was no water in the washroom. After raising a complaint, the water supply was restored, but the water was dirty and brownish in color, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel.

The problems continued the next morning when the shower was not working properly. This caused further inconvenience, delayed my morning routine, and made the checkout process even more stressful.

The breakfast was another major disappointment. I had specifically booked a rate that included breakfast, but the offering was far below expectations. There was no live kitchen, no freshly prepared tea, and no hot milk. The breakfast menu consisted of only three very poor-quality options. The bread/toast available had an unpleasant smell, leaving me with almost nothing suitable to eat.

What was most frustrating was the response from the reception staff. When I raised these issues, instead of addressing my concerns, I was told that "you are the only one with this issue." This dismissive attitude made an already poor experience even worse.

Overall, the combination of poor location, lack of basic amenities, water and shower problems, disappointing breakfast, and unhelpful customer service made this one of the most unsatisfactory hotel stays I have experienced. I would not stay here again.

Een hartelijke ontvangst, hartverwarmend. Uitgebreid ingelicht over de mogelijkheden en wat interessant is om een aangenaam verblijf te hebben in Leh
