Excellent food, very helpful friendly staff
No where to sit indoors to have a drink or cup of tea. The bar is the old dungeon, novel but not somewhere you want spend too much time.
Meals were good both breakfast and dinner. Transport question could not answer correctly as we were booked on skybus both ways, only to find on the way home and arrived at the airport they had transferred us to the ferry, saying the plane we were flying on had been cancelled with no notice given to us before we arrived. There is quite a difference in cost, for which I am expecting a refund, also instead of arriving home about 5.00pm we arrived home after midnight. I will never book skybus again and would not recommend them to anybody, as apparently this happens quite frequently, so we have been told by other people standing in a queue at the ferry terminal.
I believe what I said above covers it all.
Lovely location
No views from room
Das Essen war Sterneniveau!!!! Es war fantastisch!! Nicht zu übertrefffen in Darbietung und Geschmack!! Wir haben jeden Gang geliebt und genossen. Der Ausblick vom Zimmer war atemberaubend!
Nichts !! Es war ein wunschlos glücklicher Urlaub im Hotel!
Great location, interesting history.
Stunning location, excellent food, very comfortable room.
Süßes Zimmer im Turm.
Kein einziger gemütlicher Stuhl um sich mal in Ruhe irgendwo zu entspannen auf der Außenanlage in der Nähe meines Zimmers mit WLan.
Totally stunning place to stay. Packed with oodles of history, it is a fascinating place to stay. All of the staff without exception went the extra mile; from Spider who collected us and dropped us off at the airport, to Kial & Sarah who kept us informed beforehand and throughout our stay (recommending Rafe who helped us explore the islands) and to Ollie & Alex in the bar and the host of amazing waiting staff.
The food was top notch.
Absolutely nothing… it was totally awesome.
Star castle is an exceptional hotel. Staff are amazing. Food wonderful . Location fantastic.
Didn't have much time for more than cereal and toast, but the waiter forgot to bring the coffee I had ordered. I let him know, and that I had to leave to catch a ferry

Such a treat to stay in 500 year old castle! We had castle and garden rooms and both were quirky, comfortable and very well serviced. The castle itself has a cosy lounge and a dungeon bar where staff were happy to serve at any time. It felt like anything we needed could be found. The garden room had a terrace with incredible views. We didnt expect a pool - in a sun room with towels and lounging chairs and games. The vine restaurant breakfast was delicious and had no issue with some off menu ordering. We had dinner there too which was classic and very well served: five star vibes. The gardens are amazing and full of places to sit/ lounge and take in the stunning views. The castle bears a good half day exploring in itself: notable wallpaper and curtains, framed history, books, games, hidden nooks to sit in! Its well placed for views, although the price of that is the steep hill to the entrance: a complimentary driver met us at the airport and took us back there though.
The excellent dinners. The chef is outstanding and the food delicious: he/she is to be congratulated.
We appreciated getting room service breakfast each morning.
The staff are very solicitous especially on reception and the young staff friendly.
Our room was very comfortable and quiet.
Praise for 'Spiderman' who took me to the hospital after my accident at the airport and all his other solicitous transport.
We were disappointed in the Castle dining room. The tables are far too close together so we cancelled our booking for my birthday celebration there and ate in the Vine restaurant each night.
Sandwich lunches were the same for 3 days and there was nowhere comfortable in which to eat them.
The existence of the small sitting room was only pointed out on our departure day so more hotel information and perhaps a map of the island would be helpful.
Lack of privacy on our terrace disappointing.
Location amazing and such an interesting building from an architectural and historical perspective.
All staff really welcoming and helpful.
Dinner excellent in both restaurants, The Vine and the Castle dining room.
Rafe, who provided the boat service for the hotel was so helpful and interesting!
The pillows were feather and down and I found them uncomfortable, they were too soft and offered no support, but I'm sure others would like them!
Breakfast in the Vine Restaurant was lovely
Room was very nice
Walk up to the Hotel was long and very steep
A hotel full of history & character, but with every modern facility. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful & welcoming. Splendid food too! Excellent location in the heart of Hughtown (though a steep hill to climb up to the entrance).
My room was compact, but big enough for a single. Some confusion in the restaurant, because staff were just settling back into their jobs at the start of the season ... but they excused themselves with smiles.
